He is absolutely free to say what he wants. We are free to criticize him for it. We are free to contact his employer about it and tell them we don't appreciate it and that we don't watch NFL for political comment. We are free to tell them we will not be buying products from their sponsors of his programming. We are free to contact the sponsors of his programming and tell them we don't watch NFL sports for political comment. We are free to tell them if they continue to sponsor his programming that we will assume they agree with his comments and that we will not be buying their products.
By the way the Constitution is about the government restraining speech. It has nothing to do with private citizens railing on someone for their public speech. It is about the government exercising prior restraint and jailing those who excercise their rights in the abscence a constitutional law being broken.
He can criticize us for the excercise of our 2nd amendment rights, we can criticize his excercise of his 1st amendment rights.
On a another note since it was on broadcast TV on public airwaves, one can request response time. Or you can file a complaint against your local station with the FCC about them not acting in the public interest, and ask for their license to be revoked or not renewed.
When a public figure uses a public platform to voice strong views they should expect strong responses from whose ox they have gored.
I don't think anyone has he didn't have a right to say it, they just think he was wrong to do it, he shoud take his lumps for doing it. I would never make such comments from the pulpit of my employer. If I did so, I would risk my job. He has taken that risk.

no your the one not getting it..no one has said they wanted to burn the flag..but if someone wants to they can because thats what freedom is about.
the rights that give one man the freedom to burn it gives another the freedom to fly it..

Respect is earned. If you think it's OK to burn the American flag....no respect for you.
Just because you can do something doesn't mean you should. It's called common sense/decency. And the ones that we see burning our flag hate us and what it stands for.
Why is that hard to understand?

I emailed the NFL to inform them that as long as Bob Costas is calling NFL games, I won't be watching them..
Not much, but if a few million people do the same, they will take notice.
