How to Test Your Ammunition for Corrosive Primers - Corrosive vs. Non-Corro
So I got a 1,000rnd case of russian surplus ammo called Klimovsk. Because it was advertised as Non-Corrosive & the box said the same, I assume it was. After purchasing the case, I read a little more into the ammo online & found out some people were complaining that their Klimovsk was indeed corrosive. This got me a little worried and when I received it in the mail, I made sure to test it before firing through my firearm.
This Test is SUPER SIMPLE & uses common household tools. I recommend everyone who buys any sort of surplus ammo, test it before firing (or buying a case!) This process can be used on any caliber. Even if you think "there's no way this is corrosive", your better safe than sorry.

If I'm not mistaken all the Wolf, Silver Bear, Brown Bear, and Tula stuff should be good to go, right?

Far simpler to just run a patch of Ballistol or Windex down the bore after shooting instead of all this.

It takes a lot more than a patch of anything to rid of all the salts that hold on in any firearm from corrosive primers... That's why most use a garden hose or pot of boiling water. Thoroughly cleaning the gas tub & carrier is also a necessity...
I'd say sticking to non-corrosive ammo is the way to go. No need to clean an AK after every use.

I've got a 1000rnd case of Klimovsk 7.62x39 that I have yet to open. The lot number is H-20. I had already read things about it being corrosive, so I'm treating it as such until I test it.
OP, can you provide your lot number? I read that lots starting with "P" are known to be corrosive. **Nevermind, I saw it at the end of your video ;-)

Yep, I have heard H-20 is corrosive too...
Bad deal, unless you really don't mind corrosive ammo.
But what a pain in the butt it is... cleaning an AK after every use!!??
Hope I helped u! Have a good one.

How can that possibly be more simple to do, The whole point is to not use corrosive ammo and you literally have to take the entire gun apart and clean it after every firing or it will rust.

No troll ,I just thought you may want to know how to pronounce it properly. So one doesn't sound like a dunce.
I know I like to learn but then again not everyone does,YMMV.
