LOL@ Axl.
I've had one Twinkie my entire life. Bleech.
I used to dig the Cupcakes (chocolate, please!) as a kid - only b/c of the slab'o'frosting-like-substance.
I think I was a dingdong addict in elementary school. (Now THAT'S sig-line material. LOL) Otherwise, I just don't go out of my way for prepackaged sweets. Even those breakfast ones. Crumb cakes or whatever. I had one a few years ago. What a disappointment.
Gimme a hand-made DONUT! If I'm gonna die in a diabetic coma, it's going to be with GOOD food.

And just when Washington and Colorado legalize marijuana, Hostess is about to go belly up. I predict some uprising. Perhaps very slow uprising.

The last time I tried to buy a ho ho was in the mid west bible belt on a Sunday. I walked into this little country store. Some holly roller was playing on the TV talking about the sin of fornication & dam nation. The little old lady wearing a big gold cross running the store was glued to the TV.
Well after walking around the store for a while the little old lady noticed me. I was looking for a snack, but I really wasn't hungry hungry. So I figured I didn't need a ho ho, I only needed one. So I walked up to the little old lady holding the bible and ask her where I could find a ho.
All of a sudden this little old lady starts beating on me with the bible, yelling FORNICATOR at me.
I never did get that ho.

Peyton Manning will swoop in and buy Hostess like he did those 21 Papa John's franchises in Denver 2 weeks before weed got legal.

The Texas based corporation told the union morons not to strike. Unions have outlived their need.

I've been unemployed for 10 months now. Just a couple of thoughts:
1) I would gladly have taken an 8% cut in salary in lieu of getting laid off.
2) Many companies in the private sector have found it necessary to cut benefits in order to survive... many more will soon follow as the requirements under Obamacare kick in.
Look, if the union wants to draw a line and take a stand that's their right. If it causes their members to take a 100% cut in pay and benefits... well, so be it. Welcome to making your bed and then having to sleep in it. I just feel sorry for the non-union employees of the company who will also lose their jobs. This isn't their fault...
But no worries... government dependence is the new normal... haven't you heard?

Chrysler Corp. a UAW employer, has 2 plants in Mexico. They pay $.80/hr. no benifits other than 2 meals a day.
My only point to this post is to wonder are you folks really so stupid to think that they wouldn't do the same to you if they could.

The local scuttlebutt is that many of the lower paid Union members don't care if the company shuts down. They will receive lots of Unemployment and other benefits from the Government.

Supply and demand.
When I can higher a high school dropout to do a job for minimum wage with no benefits and have them lining up around the block for the job, I don't see a need to pay any more than minimum wage. (If minimum wage in MX is .80 plus 2 meals, that is the minimum.)
Then tack on if I can move the job to a place where it costs less to manufacture my good and ship it to the end client I will.
Now, the question becomes how much should import taxes be on the product. Should we limit the importation of ammunition and arms from China to protect our gun industry? How about cars, lets stop the importation of complete cars?
What you are talking about is socialism. You should be happy the election turned out the way it did.

Well that's a dumb statement but I have to ask: Is hedge fund a bad word in your world or something?

I'll continue to boycott all UAW products until they get completely out of my country.
Hopefully, the union members will never again find jobs.

no RW Blue, I am in Alabama and I can assure you I voted Romney.
I'm just saying that all these companies who do this in Mexico would do the same in the U.S. if they could. And I'm asking if you are too stupid to understand.

A company can't do anything to you that you don't agree to (unless the government gets involved).
What you seem to think or suggest is poor treatment in Mexico is a win-win for both parties. Those Mexican workers are glad to have that package. THAT'S WHY THEY AGREED TO GO TO WORK.
In the U.S. you have the same luxury: Accept terms of employment or decline and pursue another......or work for yourself. Everyone must make that determination for themselves. If someone offers you .80 and 2 meals, and its better than the other options you have, you take it and be grateful.
Lets face it....making ding dongs is low level work requiring no particular skills or education. We don't need American workers making ding dongs. We especially don't need them unionized. That kind of work should be done in Mexico.
Apparently American workers agree because they weren't willing to accept compensation that is congruent with the value of the job being performed.

I would do some research before spewing lies. The Teamsters were able to look at the books and immediately settled and went back to work. they say that what the company has put out is true.

Not yet. The Baker's Union is still on strike. The Teamsters are calling for a secret vote. They think most want to return to work.
