S&W revolver issue

I'm having a strange problem with my 686 plus. For lack of a better term, is cylinder is kind of sticky. Not as if it's covered in pepsi but its kind of difficult to open. The cylinder release seams to slide forward enough when pressed. What do you guys think? I've never disassembled a revolver before but am comfortable doing so. Maybe i'll take it down a bit & see if something is gunked up. I do shoot it quite a bit.
