Unfortunately, in the name of equality we will continue to send them, and eventually lower standards so that they pass.

Sorry ladies, if your body can't handle the abuse, then you wouldn't be able to handle the abuse in the field. If you're not good enough to do the job, the job won't lower itself for you. If your job is to haul 100 pound sacks, the sacks aren't going to magically become 75 pound sacks just because you're a women. Either you can do it, or you can't. If you can do it, awesome, if you can't, you need to find something else to do.

I know several **** hot female combat pilots, in both fixed wing fighters, CAS, and rotary wing gunships. As well as have had the distinct honor of going into combat with some great utility rotor wing female pilots.
I don't think they belong in the inf. but they can absolutely hack it behind a stick.

"2" is hardly a valid statistical sampling to draw conclusions from.
I would also point out that the Israelis have had good success using female combat troops, to include a number of women in the Mossad's dreaded Kidon assassination and counter-terrorism detachments. Then, of course, there were the Russian female sniper and infiltration units in WWII.
Women may not have the upper body strength that most men have, and they may need some different physical standards as a result, but by-and-large the argument that women can't "cut it" in combat has been proven to be a myth so many times as to constitute an absurdity as an argument.

No one is saying women are incapable of killing.
They're saying they're unfit for the infantry. A point that has been proven in blood again and again.
A Russian sniper in WW II, is hardly a valid comparison to an infantryman today.

How so? I guarantee that Russian snipers on the Eastern Front had to deal on a daily basis with conditions and risks that would give even the toughest modern Ranger or Marine pause.
They had to mule their own weapons and combat packs through deadly cold and extreme terrain, live on rations that would best be described as laughable and evade, stalk, kill and outsmart some of the best trained male infantry soldiers of the day while doing so.
And they were feared like angels of death by the Nazis they hunted.
And of course the IDF has been using females in their military, to include combat infantry units, for decades with great success.

Show me the Israeli women who have actively participated in offensive combat operations. They are mostly on passive duty type positions like security and such.

Navy officer Lt. Kara Hultgren was rushed into the seat of a Tomcat to satifsy feminist ideological dictates and she lost her life. This abuse of legitimate womens' desire to contribute on par with men will be repeated with every Radical Left government we elect.

If a person, man or woman, can't meet the physical requirements, they can't meet the physical requirements.

So when does the ref blow the whistle for an official "time out" in the middle of real combat, to adjust for "different physical standards"?

From the article...
"...and the drive to expand service options for women has largely been replaced with a rearguard action to keep existing gains from being lost, in the face of both increased pressure from the religious establishment for greater separation of the sexes in the army and a rise in the number of women claiming a religious exemption from service."
Yes, Israel too has to deal with its equivalent of the "religious right".
That doesn't change the fact that the IDF officially agrees with expanding the roles for women in combat, largely due to the success of fully integrated, combat infantry units like the Caracal Battallion, which is 60-70% female and has served with distinction in a number of front-line combat ops in the last decade.

The key is "different", not "lesser" standards. Women have other physical traits such as overall better hand-eye coordination (important in shooting small arms) and higher general resistance to severe pain (important in all manner of military situations).
In modern combat, it isn't all about upper body strength.

Also from the article:
Quote:
Another Segev Committee member said that aside from the rabbis, many senior officers - including both current Chief of Staff Benny Gantz and Yoav Galant, who was originally supposed to get the job before being disqualified at the last minute - also "fiercely opposed integrating women into assault units."
As a result, he said, "not one of the main recommendations has been implemented: Length of service hasn't been equalized, all jobs haven't been opened up, and certainly women haven't been put in front-line units."
|
...
Quote:
|
Nevertheless, he added, the army opposes using women as combat troops in the infantry and tank corps, as too few women can meet the physical requirements, "like marching 90 kilometers while carrying a heavy load." Women should be integrated "according to the IDF's operational needs," he said.
