In a heartbeat. Or they would have some of their LE colleagues do it.

And don't think "I lost them in a boating accident" is going to work. After hearing that 5 times, the BATFE will write a policy that deals with just that kind of response. It will then be up to YOU, at the point of a gun, to describe under oath, EXACTLY where you lost those weapons. I suspect the 4473 will be grounds for a search warrant.

Don't think bureaucrats aren't up to the task.

But I don't think it's going to happen either. But I don't doubt the BATFE would LOVE to do it.
So you really think they are going to manually sort through every 4473 in storage, then pick up every single form on file at every FFL nation-wide, and sort through those, too?

Then what, start knocking on millions of doors across the nation? Where the hell do you think they are going to get that kind of manpower? Forced confiscation isn't really feasible in the US, especially when you consider how few states have registration laws, and how horribly under-manned many local and county police agencies are.

They would put out the word that you turn them in by x or face 20 years in federal "pound you in the arse" prison. Most would turn them in.

The ones that didn't would either hide them to where they were essentially useless or would get caught sooner or later.

However, I doubt they would try confiscation. Making then non-transferable would do the trick, but would take longer.

Back around 1774, the British tried to do the same thing to Americans. It did not end well for them.

The bottom line - for me - is that I have no guns ever since that horrible boating accident years ago.
There most certainly is national registration for every firearm bought through a dealer for the last 20 years. It's called the dealers bound book. And that 20 year limit only applies if the dealer is smart enough to actually destroy it after the 20 years.

I don't think it will come to confiscation. But if it does, it won't happen like most of you think.

Under the pretense of eminent domain, the government would offer a type of buy back. There could be a grace period where gun owners are "allowed" to turn in their weapons and receive compensation without charges. Meanwhile, 4473's would be digitized, if they aren't already. There have been numerous stories about liberal mayors trying to get the NICS records for years. We might think those records are being destroyed, but how many other laws are our governments (federal, state, and local) already violating? Do you really think Barack Obama, Chuck Schumer and their ilk feel restrained by law? Even if they do, digitizing 4473's are a matter of running the form through a fast scanner, and compiling the data by socialism security numbers.

They could to use the NICS records of purchases since Obama took office. Most of the people who bought firearms since then, already own other firearms. Approach those gun owners and get what has been banned. They won't ban ALL firearms, just evil black rifles. There are a lot of Fudds out there who will not only support, but comply. I once heard a Fudd in a gun store telling his son that "there is no reason to own one of those rifles" as they walked by the AR-15 case at Guns and Ammo in Memphis TN. Government loves to divide and conquer. Hunters who do not own evil black rifles will be eager for us to turn our EBR's in.

Then they could go to a reward program. Turn in your neighbor, get a reward. That would eliminate a lot of the big talkers. Just postings on the internet would give government a lot of people to check out. I doubt they would ever go door to door. I doubt they would ever have to.

All these idiots who talk big on the internet, will be the first ones to turn them in.

They don't have to confiscate all EBR's. All they have to do is criminalize the ownership and transfer, and that is effectively ban enough. When they get the 4473's digitized, the people who own several EBR's could be dealt with first. The rest will resolve themselves.

But all those boobs who say stupid **** like "from my cold dead hands".... when the time comes and they find themselves isolated and alone, will gladly turn over their EBR's for the money the government is offering.

At that point, we revert back to Remington and Mossberg shotguns, and semi automatic .30 caliber rifles for hunting and sporting purposes.

That's how they get us. They won't ban all guns, just evil black rifles. "Reasonable" gun owners will think this is realistic and logical.

Don't be fooled by the big talkers on the internet. They are NOT going to go down fighting if and when they find themselves alone, and against a government TACT squad. They like to talk big.

But again, I don't think it will come to confiscation. But if it does, government will figure ways to do it. The ONLY thing bureaucrats are good at, is oppression.

Not gong to happen.

It is a interesting subject to talk about on the net though.

I have often wondered... just who will do the door to door repo.

Many years ago my brother gave me one of those 'Cold dead fingers' hats for my birthday. I hung it on a nail in the barn. Later my brother saw it in the barn covered with dust and dirt daubers nests. He asked me why I didn't wear it.

I told him 'that's a losers attitude.' When it comes down to prying it from your 'cold dead fingers,' they most certainly will. It's too late then. The time to fight is now with our votes and pocketbook.

i will fight only as hard as my government forces me to. i will resist only as hard as the tyrants do. i will only fire on as many enemies as i am forced to.

as an American citizen and as a patriot i try to think of myself as a cur dog. i am just trying to scavenge out a meek existence for myself from the scraps i am left, but if you corner me you will have your idea of hell redefined.

if a fight starts i do not care if i win or lose, i only care that any witnesses remember i fought my hardest and did my best to get away from that fight.

to put a lighter spin on the subject i give you 2 quotes from the comedian Ron White.

1) "i didn't want to be drunk in public, i wanted to be drunk in a bar. they threw me into "public".

2) i didn't know how many of them it was gonna take to whoop my ass, but i knew how many they were gonna use."

No way man. My Playboy collection is three generations old and counting. I will only hand it down to my sons.

As for evil boomsticks. We traded them in at the last buyback for Wally World gift cards and gubmint paid cell phones. We're clear here.

Diane. Lolz. She is just a misinformed, menopausal, grumpy old broad trying to be politically relevant and appeal to her whacko home base. Yawn at her, but I guess you never know what they will pass next.

Make ya a deal Diane...

I will keep going to work and supporting my fellow citizens who don't. In exchange for my labor and tax contribution and creating jobs, (I didn't build that of course) I would just like to not be bothered and left to play with my man toys and Playboy collection. I promise not to bother anyone else. Kindergarten rules of conduct are in effect and all.

Just give me police, fire/ems, roads and the army. Other than that I can take care of myself thanks.

claiming everybody else will do so does not justify nor excuse your willingness to do so. you can not cover your own ass by painting the rest of us with such a high and mighty self righteous brush. whether you believe it or not some of us understand that a willingness to fight isn't enough but we have to be willing to die to galvanize the rest.

all those cops, firefighters, military, and various random everyday heroes you see on the news are not trained to be that way, they are born, and those people are born from regular everyday citizens like me and you. they are born and raised and then they form families of their own. they spend happy lives loving a wife, making babies, raising children, and basically living "the American dream" until the moment they are called upon to sacrifice it all in that split second of definition when it all counts and it's all on the line.

it that's very moment, that single blink of an eye where you're tested and many fail, but many also succeed.

in that moment you are completely and utterly alone and nobody can judge you or help you and you must make your own decision.

you have no right and no cause to try to influence or judge any American's mindset at that incalculable moment. the fact that you try to predict others (and in such a particularly negative manner) resolve at such a time speaks volumes about yourself more than us i think.

Lots of bravado on here

As posted nobody knows who has what anymore, it would truly be impossible to enforce and ban of this type. I am unaware of any nationwide door to door law enforcement collection of anything in U.S. history and I really do not think we are ever going to see one.

Americans don't think it can happen here......but it will, in our lifetime!

I think the question we should be asking is, "should we start organizing militias now?".

The Japanese didn't invade this country in 1941 because they knew that many Americans were well-armed. WOULD YOU HAVE FOUGHT THEM IF THEY HAD INVADED? I would have. Why should our own government be any different than an invading army? Isn't that why the 2nd Amendment was included in the Bill of Rights?

It's NOT bravado when I say that I would fire the first shot to start the New Revolution.....IT'S MY DUTY and MY RIGHT!!!!!!!

They are building how big of a spy center in Utah? You don't think that they already have the form 4473's in the system?

I think it is as silly to think that they don't know what is out there as it is to think that you will be able to get rid of the government agents with flip responses.

They will use the IRS and every other government agency to make you comply. All they have to do is make a few violent examples. You think the military and police aren't up for that. Reference Ruby Ridge, Waco, Bonus Army march, Ken Ballew raid, etc.

Every gun owner should read Unintended Consequences by John Ross. It is a great novelized history of gun control in America.

A 4473 only tells about the first person to buy that gun.

I have owned over 100 firearms, but have sold nearly all of them face-to-face. Who knows who owns them now.......

She is soooooooooooo anti-(current administration).

The first time I saw her it was for a GSW. I was expecting a lot of anti-gun crap.

But no, she was aking about the gun, what type of rounds, and so on.....

She is about 2 steps to the right, of anyone you ever knew or heard of....
