Yay! One day at a time got you past it. Good idea getting yourself a post chemo gift. I'm guessing it's either a watch or a knife so you can hold up a jewelry store and steal one.

Are you going to have the surgery first or take the trip first?

I'm sure you'll be happy to get your hair back, too. By the time of your trip you'll probably look like me! Uh, except much prettier, of course.

If you can't get it worked out to see me it's okay, but it would be nice to meet you IRL. I have vacation days I need to burn. Stupid back trouble screwed up my summer.

Lady Glock, I just said a prayer that you have great success on your interview today.

ETA: I'm going to a funeral this afternoon for a guy in my Sunday School class. He played golf Friday afternoon, wasn't feeling well, and went home. His wife came home and found him in cardiac arrest. He didn't make it. No problems previously and he wasn't terribly overweight. He was 54. One year younger than me.

Life is precious. Live each day like it's your last, and tell your loved ones you love them.

And geesh are you silly or what?!!! Of couse we want to see your present!!
So how did the interview go? Did our prayers work this time?

As for getting back to my pre-shot normal, that's just not going to happen. That's why I worked with therapists so much overseas to learn new ways to do things, because there's a lot of things I just can't do now. That, and I'm sure I'll be on pain meds the rest of my life. That's just how it is, but I like the way you think.

My gift to myself is on it's way from Atlanta. I had it shipped to myself instead of taking it with me from the store to save some sales tax.

Lone-Wole, eh? OK, so spelling isn't your long suit!

And I'm still praying for your healing, too. You and several others in here.

Nope, not a watch. Not a knife either, but I did get myself a few knive during my chemo. Being to sick to do anything more than browse For Sale threads on a knife forum gets expensive!

I have to take the trip before surgery, I'm told it has a 4-6 week recovery time. Yeah, I'll be glad to have hair back, but I'm not prettier than anyone these days! Sure you want to meet me? You'll be disappointed.

I'm really sorry about your friend. It sounds like he didn't suffer, I hope he didn't. Prayers for his wife.

My chances are good. There were only 2 people interviewing for the position. I feel I did really well, and I'm going to write a thank you letter in a few minutes.

I'm thinking you got yourself a new purse...you probably need a new one to accomodate all the knives and watches you own!

I don't think he suffered long if he did. He was a good guy. There were a lot of people there. My wife said it was eerie because some of the stuff they said about him sounded a lot like me, right down to making his kids do treasure hunts to find some of their Christmas presents.

I won't be disappointed. It's what's on the inside that counts. You know, scar tissue, busted cartilage... Besides, you sent me a pic, remember. I just photoshopped it and took all the hair off.

I hope you start feeling better in the next week or so and get some of your energy back. I'm sure you're tired of being a couch potato. My recovery stint at home was pretty boring. A guy can only watch so much Food Network and Family Feud. I know you don't watch TV, so I will substitute "studying the back of your hand" for that.

All other stuff aside, you MUST PLEASE let me know when you'll be in the Phx area, as I have to get my lazy, aged, sickly fat arse down from Flag to there in time to see you!!!!!!!!!

Are you kidding? I couldn't fit my knife collection into a purse! And if I could, I couldn't lift it!

Actaully the pic you saw is a before-before. I don't look ANYTHING like that now.

I'm really hoping I can move again, too. So far, I feel like hell, but that's normal this part of the week.

I've watched some baseball. That, and spent time online, even when I felt too crappy to post.

Do cute stories cheer you up???? I saw this yesterday and thought you might enjoy a smile...

HELL EXPLAINED BY CHEMISTRY STUDENT

The following is an actual question given on a University of Washington chemistry mid-term.

The answer by one student was so "profound" that the professor shared it with colleagues, via the Internet, which is, of course, why we now have the pleasure of enjoying it as well:

Bonus Question: Is Hell exothermic (gives off heat) or endothermic (absorbs heat)?

Most of the students wrote proofs of their beliefs using Boyle's Law (gas cools when it expands and heats when it is compressed) or some variant.

One student, however, wrote the following:

First, we need to know how the mass of Hell is changing in time. So we need to know the rate at which souls are moving into Hell and the rate at which they are leaving. I think that we can safely assume that once a soul gets to Hell, it will not leave. Therefore, no souls are leaving.

As for how many souls are entering Hell, let's look at the different religions that exist in the world today. Most of these religions state that if you are not a member of their religion, you will go to Hell. Since there is more than one of these religions and since people do not belong to more than one religion, we can project that all souls go to Hell. With birth and death rates as they are, we can expect the number of souls in Hell to increase exponentially. Now, we look at the rate of change of the volume in Hell because Boyle's Law states that in order for the temperature and pressure in Hell to stay the same, the volume of Hell has to expand proportionately as souls are added.

This gives two possibilities:

1. If Hell is expanding at a slower rate than the rate at which souls enter Hell, then the temperature and pressure in Hell will increase until all Hell breaks loose.

2. If Hell is expanding at a rate faster than the increase of souls in Hell, then the temperature and pressure will drop until Hell freezes over.

So which is it?

If we accept the postulate given to me by Teresa during my Freshman year that, "It will be a cold day in Hell before I sleep with you," and take into account the fact that I slept with her last night, then number two must be true, and thus I am sure that Hell is exothermic and has already frozen over. The corollary of this theory is that since Hell has frozen over, it follows that it is not accepting any more souls and is therefore, extinct......leaving only Heaven, thereby proving the existence of a divine being which explains why, last night, Teresa kept shouting "Oh, my God."

THIS STUDENT RECEIVED THE ONLY "A."

Wolfe he will not be disappointed in you. He is not expecting a model he is expecting a friend. What is inside of you is far more important and I am not referring to the damaged and scarred tissue.

You have had to change the way you do many things but you can still do a lot. The ability to adapt is part of what makes you strong.

Well, I would settle for a model. haha

It must be something pricey if she's worried about sales tax. Oh wait. I know. It's beer, isn't it?

Thank you for the prayers. His wife is really going to be lost.

Thank you so much. I have another appointment with my surgeon on Tuesday. I hope they will schedule the surgery for my back quickly so I can be ready to go to work when the opportunity is there.

I sent a thank you letter by mail today...I'm hoping it gets to them on Monday or at least before they make a decision!

Yeah, I figured you would.

Nope, not beer. I like beer, but not enough to spend that kind of $$$ on it. Unless you're talking a whole truckload, that is.

Or maybe I adapt because I have no choice. That's like people calling me brave because I'm being treated for cancer. I'm not brave or courageous, I have no choice! It doesn't make me strong, either. In fact it's made me ever weaker than I was.

Good thoughts and prayers going up for both the surgery and work situation.

This last dose of chemo has been seriously kicking my ass these last few days. It's like it knows this is the last chance for it to kill me, so it's trying extra hard. The worst should have been over today, but it wasn't, so I figure it will be in the next couple days. I know the effects are cumulative, they did get worse each week. This week makes all the more glad it was my last dose!

LG, you were right about what I got, it's a purse. I just wasn't going to tell you that until I had a pic. I also got a charm to go on the purse, or any one I already have. Here it is. I wanted this one, because the color looks like a celebration to me.

Very nice! The purse is so cute, and the charm is very pretty. I think I remember reading you have a thing for purses, though it's not as bad as your thing for watches...am I right? That's what gave me the idea that it was a purse you got. Thank you for sharing a pic!

Wolfe that purse is very pretty! I will not ask how much you paid for it.

I know you have already been told the side effects will not subside immediately so do not worry if they even seem worse for a bit. You sounded better today on the phone than you did a couple days ago. When you start to feeling better you need to enjoy yourself and be glad you are alive.

I know you have already been told the side effects will not subside immediately so do not worry if they even seem worse for a bit. You sounded better today on the phone than you did a couple days ago. When you start to feeling better you need to enjoy yourself and be glad you are alive.
LW, keep fighting the good fight. We will always be here for you.

OOhhh...I love good purses!! You have lovely taste, Wolfe!!
I'm so glad that despite feeling like crap, you can enjoy the finer things in life. The charm is very rich looking, as well!

Prayers for everyone on here who contribute so much to our Wolfe's well-being.

Thank you! Yep, I got a thing for watches, too. I got more purses than watches, but the watches cost too damn much to keep buying them.

My oncologist told me it could take up to 6 months to get to where I'm going to be post-chemo. She said most people aren't exactly like they were before, chemo does have lasting effects. I just hope the nerve damage isn't one of them for me.

Did I ever tell you that I hate the VA and the so-called docs there? I had to go in today, and the doc I saw acted like he was doing me a big favor even seeing me. I asked if there was any way I could get physical therapy or anything like that, and he said all the VA was going to do was give me pain meds, that he didn't see any point in trying to help me. He said I knew the risk of getting a permanent injury when I volunteered, and since I have cancer, any treatment might be even more wasted on me. Does anyone wonder why I stayed in the sandbox as long as I could?

Nice

LW Last chemo!!!!
Hope surgery goes well and you start feeling better soon.

I think you should share the contact information for this doctor and let your friends on here have a heart to heart with the freak! That pisses me off so much!
