I've documented my garage sale finds a couple times in the general firearms forum. That included a Mossberg 500 for $100 and two nice 70s era compound bows with arrows for $30.

Update!

Update....

Just picked up a 20 gauge barrel for the little beastie off of Ebay. Cut it down today. That should make a nice package. Still looking for a 30-30 bbl for it.

Survival/Preparedness Forum

Notice how thick the walls are on the 20 ga. bbl is compared to the 12. It is about a half pound heavier.

You know, that hat with the stiff brim is very necessary... I tried the same thing he did with the single shot shotgun and the ejected shell went promptly in my eye... and the next shell bounced off my forehead, hard... just watch the segment where his shells actually bounced off the edge of the brim or top of the hat.

Yes, it hurt pretty badly.

My H&R came with the "Survivor" stock. Full size with a compartment on the buttstock. has a 21 in bbl.
12 ga, has a nickel coated finish bbl/action making it an all weather shotgun. Added a sling and an elastic shell holder(had to soak in hot water and stretch over the fiber stock.
In the compartment, I keep a small compass, fire/steel mag block, some paper(for tinder)and a whistle/thermometer/compass.
When stocked with slugs, it kicks hard, with buck a little less. Tough gun for $75.00.(used, but not abused)
I have others, but the H&R has earned it's respect. With a couple rounds in my fingers, can be fast loaded if needed. The extractor does throw the shell casing free everytime.
Great guns.

I hate to ask, but maybe it will keep you out of the grey bar motel.....

The 30-30 you can cut down to 16 inches.
The 12ga needs to be 18 inches. It doesn't look 18 inches in the picture......Um...let me know if I need to delete this post.

I love those single 12 ga guns- fixing up two of my dad's old guns.
I have an eastern arms with no ejector, good gun but i'd like an ejector.

Actually, I took out my H&R and measured out 20" on the barrel because we have to keep our long guns at an OAL of 30" and it looks about right where he cut his.

Looks right to me. It should be 18" from the breech face.

I know someone would say that even though I stated over and over that the barrel was at least 18". I will admit that the 20 ga bbl (the one on the top in the photo) looks shorter but they are actually the same length.

Do I need to take a photo of it/them next to a tape measure to prove it or will you finally take my word for it?

BTW, if you look at page one there is a photo of the just over 16" 357 mag bbl next to the 12 ga before and after I cut is down.

I didn't re-read all the posts, I just looked at the photo and thought, "Oh crap this isn't going to end well for him". I was thinking you were suffering from a moment of stupidity, but I guess it was ME.

If that was the case, shouldn't it have been done over PM instead of broadcasting it all over the interwebs?

That's kinda what I meant. I was being facetious.

I've got a 20ga/22lr matched pair. It has a youth stock and the 20ga recoils as much as some 12ga guns I've shot. With the 22 barrel the whole gun is Chipmunk sized. Talk about handy!! Another thing I like is it will shoot anything in a 22 diameter case, unlike a lot of 22 rifles.

I also had a H&R Survivor in .223. Those things come with bull barrels and can be quite accurate, however the twist is 1/12 so 55gr or lighter bullets only. Kind of a poor man's TC.
