Thinking of going skydiving , any advice
Like the title says I have been meaning to knock parachuting off my bucket list and a place nearby has been getting pretty good reviews.
It's a 14,000 ft Tandem jump.
Anyone went skydiving before? How was it ? And any tips would be appreciated
Btw..if Airborne Infantryman reads this and doesn't add the word PLF in his reply ill be sorely disappointed

All I can say is DO IT!! I took my son for his 18th birthday. It's something he will never forget. I wish I could of jumped with him, but wasn't able to. I plan on going soon myself though.
My only advice is to pay the extra to have it videod and/or photographed..

I always remember the famous quote:

Go before it gets cold.
.....and drive fast, take chances. Pass on curves, aim at trees.
Usually, only the old school lawn darts get that.

Been a couple of times, it's the most intense few minutes you will ever have. Definitely record it.

And if you saw it on a cartoon, you can probably get away with it.

I did a tandem jump at Zephyrhills Airport last year.
We jumped at 15k. The best part is jumping out. The falling sensation quickly abates and you are left with the free fall and acrobats. It was cool I suppose, it was loud, harder to breathe than normal and we fell for some time.
The bad is pulling the canopy. I'm sure they make custom harnesses but this particular get up had my balls in a bind for the next 20 minutes. Reminded me of the first time we ties Swiss seats for rappelling. You only tie them loose once.
The landing sucked bad, the ground wind picked up apparently and I was advised to lift my legs and feet as high as I could and come in ass first. Think of a vegetable and sand enema at 18 knots.
I got my feet up as high as I could but the JM rolled forward a bit and that planted on foot down which we both promptly ran over. I limped off the field and told him not to worry about it. Took about 3 months to heal so wear good boots with ankle support just in case.
Bucket list item? Absolutely go and do it.
For me? I'll dive underwater.
Hope you have a blast

that is great because my AF training on PLF consisted of 20 powerpoint slides followed by a 50 question quiz

Forget the parachute.
Jump with an air hose or extension cord. I promise it will get hung up on something before you hit the ground.

Tandem jumps didn't exist when I jumped, made two static line jumps from 3000'. The best part was climbing out the door to stand on a platform over the wheel while holding onto the wingstrut, waiting for the signal to jump.
We jumped using old military surplus round chutes.

I jumped a few years back and it was an absolute thrill! As mentioned, when the chute deploys, it jerks the living snot right out of you, but other than that it was a great ride. The free fall was awesome and then the guy I was strapped to asked me if I wanted to go down slow or fast for the rest of the way. I opted for the slow route and he twisted and turned as much as he could to delay the landing and get the most air time as possible. We also had a perfect stand up landing.
I highly recommend it!

The recruit asked the jumpmaster about his first jump.
Jumpmaster said at what altitude to pull the main chute. And if it did not open , the atwhat altitude to pull the aux. chute.
the recruit asked ," and what if my first and second chutes do not open? How long will I live?"
Jumpmaster said, " Son , U will live until U hit the ground."
Best wishes

Odd, I get coverage for technical scuba. Is it dependent on whether or not you are a tourist or a hobbyist?
