Who else thinks the Ruger 38 LCR is a handful to shoot?

I have the Tamer grips. It beats up my palm aches with +P ammo. I shoot a 357 snubby with no issues. I shoot 357 Magnums in all of my full sized revolvers and I have no issues with subcompacts like the Glock 27 or even P938.

Today I received my Eagle Grips Secret Service grips. I hope these help.

I'm used to my G17, and my LCR in .38 punches me a lot harder.

+1, then again I don't put a steady diet of +P ammo down the barrel, that would be nuts.

I never shot one, but the lightweight should make felt recoil greater.

Put about 150 rounds through an LCR.

It certainly kicks but no worse than an Airweight.

My jframe give my hand a solid thump, and the LCR is an ounce or more lighter than my 442. I can imagine its a handful.

LCR with .38 Plus P definitely gives it a good snap. I personally think that a smooth smallish wooden grip that would allow me to put my fingers higher under the trigger guard would help.

I shot the 38 lcr with some 38+p and didn't think it was bad compared to the 357(which I own) with full power 357's, even though its a tad heavier.
The lcr 357 with 125gr 357's is no joke. It's like a baseball bat to the palm, but I love it

Sold my S&W snubbie because I couldn't shoot it worth a %*^*. I picked up a Ruger SP101 2.25inch .357 and it's a breeze to shoot hotter loads. More power to those that can handle a light weight revolver but I failed the test big time.

Sorry but I also think it's the softest shooting snub nose I've shot. I have a Smith Scandium that beats me up much more than the LCR.

Can you just imagine one in .357?

only shoot the 642 because I have to. It's a love hate relationship. Hate to shoot it, love to carry it!

I normally don't shoot +p rounds through my LCR that often, but to me the LCR absorbs recoil much better than my Smith 642. In fact, I'm thinking about getting rid of it (the 642). The LCR has better sights and a better trigger to boot.......

I don't have a problem with +P in a S&W 442. Well, I'm heading out to the range. I'll see if the new grips help. Otherwise, I'm getting a 442 or SP101.

I find my LCR much more pleasant to fire than my S&W 342 and nicer than my S&W 642. That's with the standard grip the gun comes with.

I'm not familiar with the Eagle Grips. Pics??

Never mind, Googled them. Look a tad too large for pocket carry, which is the purpose of my LCR. Really want a clone grip the same configuration as the S&W J-frame round butt with a T-adapter installed.

The regular LCR is very lightweight. I have a KLCR(.357), and it is a few ounces heavier, makes shooting .38 much more tame.

Different grips and/or reducing the number of rounds shot in one session may hopefully help.

^^ me too I could see how you would say the .357 magnum version would be a handful..id agree to that. But ive got a Taurus CH85 Snubnose thats just fine with regular and manageable with .38 +p loads. And though I dont won a LCR ive shot them and I consider them quite soft shooting.

and lets face it when I practice I try to use the same grain I do for self defense but I dont use full P+ loads at the range for regular target/CC/SD practice...so I never have to worry about shooting 100 rounds of P+(im betting almost no one has to worry about that) about the only time I even shoot up my P+ stuff is when its time to replace my CC/HD ammo with new stuff then I will take the old to the range and shoot it up.

I have a S&W 642, and a friend has an LCR. I shot them both side by side, and I didn't notice any difference in recoil.

My .38 LCR is no problem. My sons S&W 638 is not pleasant at all.

Being my first revolver, i was shocked at the recoil. I have only shot the remington sjhp +p because they were on sale for 14.99 a box o 50. Looking forward to a beefier revolver in the future. Maybe Taurus 608

Get a full-size revolver, say a GP-100 or S&W 686. Much easier to shoot. Learning to shoot a revolver on a short barreled DA-only gun is sort of like learning to ride a motorcycle on a 160-hp liter-class rocket. Sure, you CAN do it, but there are easier ways...

As for the LCR, I didn't find it at all punishing to shoot. It was much more comfortable than the Kel-Tec PF-9 I used to have. But I'm not one to sit down at run 100 rounds at a session in something like that either. (Seriously, if I want to shoot that much in a little pistol I have a Glock 26.)
