Wow, you NEVER see these pistols...
I love the Walther P88 and the Champion model is very rarely ever seen. In fact, I don't think I've ever seen one for sale before.

I'm not sure who drilled the frame, but I'd like to smack them upside the head with a 2x4!
If it wasn't for that I would have hit BIN before even posting this. I'd love to have one for my collection.
Its amazing what people do sometimes. It hurts just looking at it.

Why did they drill it? I see no practical reason for doing so.

I'm pretty sure some of those frames were drilled at the factory for a factory offered red dot mount. Don't take my word for it but I believe it to be true

Edited to add, I think this is the thread that gave me that notion. But that doesn't really prove anything, could be the same drilled gun in fact. http://www.waltherforums.com/forum/p...champions.html
Sorry looks like it hit quote instead of edit, on my phone....

As said the auction claims the holes are factory. I would think that the kind of people who might actually buy one of those might have a competent gunsmith find the appropriate size and length screws to fit the holes. People in my circumstances would grab the can of bondo, a spray can of RustOleum and "git er done." Which is why the folks that manufacture items like the Champion, the Arnage, or the Round Action Sidelock intentionally price them out of the reach of guys like me.
Then once every few years some guy of my circumstances wins the lottery. And the gentlemen who represent and craft bespoke guns, bespoke suits and bespoke automobiles grit their teeth and wince in pain..

Actually, you're right. The seller changed the way it read in the description.
Before it just said the frame was drilled for optics.

Yeah, he must have changed it. It didn't say factory when I first looked at it this afternoon.

I still want a decent shape regular P88 one of these days. Last year I found one but it was beat to hell.

I'm going to sleep on it, but I really like it.
The P88 is my favorite Walther.

Many times they are beat and when they aren't, prices are very high.

All (attempted) humor aside, my guess is four screws would make that look much better.

I don't like how the screw holes are not the color frame, like they might be coated at the factory. Also, they seemed brighter and shiny...hmmm
I do like it though!

Maybe someone can find a picture of the mount.
