Sig sauer 1911-22

Thinking about picking up a .22 plinker, looking at the Sig Sauer 1911-22. Has anyone had any experience shooting one?

A Sig 522 is more fun for .22 plinking. Unless you are looking for a 1911 trainer.

Mine is a blast to shoot. A great 1911 trainer.

That said it is ammo picky.

Shoots well with CCI.

I'd say its the best rimfire 1911 style pistol, but that's not saying much.

If you want a good plinker, go with something else.

Agree 100%. I wanted a 1911 style .22lr. I shot the Sig and I am just not a fan. Don't like the way you field strip the gun, didn't like the weight, and didn't find it to be very accurate compared to a Buckmark or a Ruger. I love the way the SIG looks, I love it idea of the 1911 22lr but I wont buy one until they are improved. Just my personal opinion, I know others who love their rimfire Sig.

I bought one a few weeks ago. It is really fun to shoot and shoots very well. It will function pretty reliably with high velocity ammo but not with standard velocity or target ammo. Generally if I load the mag with 9 cartridges, it will function without a hitch. If I try to go with 10, it has a FTF on the first shot.

The pistol is made well and really looks good. I'd give it a thumbs up if you can get one around $375 and you're not depending on its reliability as your only means of self-defense.

Took it to the range and didn't have .22 ammo with me so I purchased a Remington bulk pack at the range and it ran flawless for a couple hundred rounds.

I was surprised. I need to go to Walmart and stock up.

I was a blast to shoot. A true 1911 it isn't but it is close enough to me.

WTF? $2000 for a .22LR 1911. Man you have to shoot alot to save that much shooting .22LR over .45ACP

Sig 1911-22 is the same pistol as the GSG 1911-22, of which the GSG is cheaper. You're just paying for the Sig roll mark. I have the GSG version, and love it.

Great training for clearing malfunctions and trigger time. It's fun to see a ragged hole of 22s. Not a target gun by any means, but it is fun to shoot. Picky ammo, yes. But I can care less. I mix my ammo so the low velocity will cause malfunctions, but it give me a chance to practice my clearing techniques.

I also had a GSG-1911 and it was a fun to shoot and really accurate & reliable. In a way, I kind of wish I didn't sell mine since I had mine setup just how I wanted it, but I grew bored of it and like shooting .45 1911's more.

But for practice and wanting to plink with, it's a great gun. Even worked great with 36 gr CCI MiniMag rounds on .5" steel plates at a rimfire steel match I used it in.
