Custom work done...
So last time I showed pictures of my stuff, it was work done on some G30's. This time, it's my Hk USP. I'm just going to have fun with this gun. I'm going to end up doing absolutely everything I can to this gun, slide lightening (maybe more), matching the spring rate to the slide weight, I fit an aluminum weight to it that a friend made me, I'm putting a Delta Point on it recessed into the slide with the sights moved forward in front of it, Cerakoting the slide and weight Burnt Bronze, coating the Jarvis barrel with TiN along with a couple mags.... I might, might even flute the barrel. This is just an "all or nothing" gun for me. Anyway, here is what it looks like right now. I know you can't see it in the pictures, but the serrations in the slide match the angles of the serrations in the weight. The size of the serrations are different and so is the spacing, but I wanted it to also look good if I didn't have the weight on. For those of you that like the Match, but also hate the extra weight, that the weight has... the aluminum is awesome!
This is what it looked like with the weight's final fit...

I had to make an insert that fit like a glove inside the slide so I didn't crush anything in the vise.

Machining the serrations in the slide.

What it looks like without the weight.

With the weight, but no barrel (still have to get it).
So, that's it so far. Still a long way to go.

I'd be concerned about proper functioning after removing mass form the slide.
Not my cup of tea, but if you like, that's all that matters.

That's why you have to tune the spring weight to the new slide mass and whatever loads he's going to using.

This is correct, there is a ton of metal on Hk's though and that little metal taken, isn't much. This is not my first modification like this. I also have a couple of my modified guns being used in competition that have several thousand rounds through them and still ticking.

Just curious, whats the point of lightening the slide but then adding weight back to the front?

I'd guess that less moving mass and more stationary mass work to reduce recoil?

Heavier muzzle flips less during recoil.
Lighter slide weight transfers less energy & weight to the rear
during recoil. So the mods create a pistol that stays on target longer
& come back to target quicker.........& they will catch a crap-load of lint.

Heavier front end less muzzle flip. Lighter slide faster cycle time.
Back in the day of Bill Wilson and his comped 1911 .45s the comp actually reduced muzzle flip by directing high pressure gas upward which helped.
Nowadays the IPSC style comp'ed guns use the comp more for a weight than a true compensator. This is due to the current style guns using .380auto spec ammo, lightweight slides, etc and their ammo is custom tuned to that particular pistol.
Gamers.
asrspyder,

You should see if you can sell that kind of work to the people that provide guns for Hollywood movies. Might as well cash it in every which way you can.
