Good morning Glock Talk - from noob Glock owner

Good morning Glockers.

Fun website you have here. Lots and lots of great info. Love Ayoobs forum.

For my first Glock I bough a G30. Should come in in about a week. Was looking for gen4 but no one had them. There still seems to be a lot of gen3's in the pipeline so I bought one of those. But most of what I read about the gen4 G30 has been favorable. Was really hoping to land one.

I decided on the G30 because I wanted a small .45 carry with a decent capacity, to alternate with or maybe replace with my P99c 9mm. Will have to see how it shoots and carries. 8 rounds would have been acceptable, 10 is excellent.

Looking forward to some informative Glock Talk browsing sessions.

Love mine....Gen3 version
Very soft shooting! Added pearce grip extension to the mags. That help hold on to it.
Did not know gen 4 G30 is out!

Greetings meo - ordered the grip extensions (and two magazines) from Glockmeister.com. Have the extensions on the P99c and it helps me get a better grip. Still looking around for something to put on the grip to help with traction. But figured I would shoot the G30 for a while and see if it is really necessary.

Thought that I saw a few posts around here talking about the gen 4.

10? You forgot the +1 in the chamber. Glocks absolutely will not fire unless the trigger is fully depressed: Glocks are technically and legally defined as DAs. So feel safe knowing you can bring 11 with you everywhere you go.

I love my G30 more than my Gen4 17.

Remember, for your backup mags (spares you keep in the house, car, wherever) you can get a G21 (full sized .45) mag, get a grip sleeve and have 13+1 and get a +2 mag extension and have 15+1. See photo for example:

Welcome to the fray... It gets fun.

From what I've heard, Gen4 G30s are Blue Label only right now (Active Duty Mil/LEO/first responders and GSSF members).

But I may be wrong.

Thanks PettyOfficer - yes I have read that the G21 mags will fit. And yes I was planning on 10+1 although I have read that due to spring compression a full magazine with 10 rounds will not seat easily in the G30. The recommendation is to carry 10+1 and 9 in any back up mags. Or as you suggest, G21 mags, if they are legal in your state.

G30 coming at end of week -

Hey all. Fired the G30SF today - first 40 rounds went down range without a hitch. All hollow points. About 35 Winchester WB 230gr jhp, a couple Hornady 230gr +P xtp's, a Speer 230gr +P and a Remington jhp round I had leftover.

I shot two targets at 50 feet. First twenty rounds off a rest on the first target. No casings to the head. Nice smooth shooter. No hand or finger bite anywhere that I noticed.

Once I decide on an SD round for it I'll put a couple hundred through it. Barring any problems it will probably replace the P99c 9mm as my primary carry.

Need to start thinking about a decent iwb holster. I usually appendix carry around 1 oclock.
