Hello from Georgia
I just joined this forum. I'm a new shooter and have yet to purchase my first gun. I've been renting guns at my local gun range, and I really like the Glocks. Please reply with some advice as to the what should be my first glock, and I do plan on using my CCW. I really like the G36 .45ACP. Thanks

Hello from Atlanta.
Nothing wrong with a Glock 36 so long you can hit the intended target.
What is the first three rules to a serving a deadly situation?
1. Shot placement
2. Shot placement
3. Shot placement.
I had a Glock 20 that I could not hit the side of a school bus with it, so I sold it.
I would go with a Glock 19 or 17, then work my way up to the 45, but then again, if you can control the 45, and hit the target in a tight group, then go for it.

Thanks for the advice. I've actually shot the G36 with pretty nice success at 15 yards in a group the size of my hand. I know I need lots more practice but trust me, I was suprised. I've shot the 9mm, and the .40cal as well and handled them about the same.
I also wanted to ask other than the Mag release, what other differences are there in the gen3 vs. the gen 4?

All I know is grip texture ( I don't like it), adjustable back straps ( to compete with M&P), and one extra mag ( I am sure to make up for the price difference between the m&p ).

Welcome! There isn't a bad Glock. Considering the cost of ammo if you don't reload, you might want to look at the 17 or 19.

Personally, I like the gen4 grip texture. There's also the enhanced spring that helps manage recoil, probably a good plus with the bigger calibers. I've got a G22 gen4 and I love it.

Thought the Gen 3 & 4 have the same spring?

Well I decided on the Glock 30. After lots of practicing about 1000 rounds several different glocks, the Glock 30; I think fits my needs extremely well. I loved the grip, it fit my somewhat larger hands much better than the Glock 36. Also, compared to the 36, the 30's double stack magazine is the more standard flexible mag. I can't wait to get it and practice from my holster!
