beretta 92fs - wolff recoil spring for +p+
anyone replace the stock recoil spring with a heavier one to mitigate wear and tear associated with running +p+ ammo. wolff shows 14 - 20 springs. i figured split the difference with a 16#, but appreciate suggestions from anyone who's done something similar.
(mods, please move to general firearms. should'nt be posting from my phone....)

How much of it are you shooting? If it's just a little here & there I'd leave it alone. It should eat it just fine.
I wouldn't be shooting 500rds at a time, but 50-100 every now & then shouldn't be an issue. Except maybe for your hands.

Agreed, I'd use enough to get a feel for it - then load a magazine for your 92FS with it for CCW or home defense.
Bulk, ball ammo for fun & plinking.

It'll be fine, as-is, unless you're planning to run +P+ as your range ammo, which I can't imagine.
I ran Winchester 127gr +P+ as my carry ammo for years, and would run a box of 50 through the gun about every year or so, as I cycled my old ammo out.

You got me thinking BSG62. How long is ammo good for if stored properly in temperate, dry conditions. I have a few cases comprised of 9mm WWB 100 per box. Cases look brand new (shiny brass). Ammo was very sparse and may still be, I haven't been looking.
Thanks!

that's the exact hd/sd round i use for my 9's (sans kahr). i ended up buying the 'calibration' pack from brownells, which provides 15, 16, 18, 20. was a lil' paranoid running +p+ through an aluminum alloy frame, but it'll just be for function.
thx gents.

Honestly, I'd up the recoil spring by at least 2lbs if you are shooting +p+
But as someone else pointed out - I would be very hesitant to feed a steady diet of +p+ thru an aluminum framed gun
