In the grand scheme of things $100 on a knife is trivial. I'm a user and collector.

That makes sense. I'm lucky I suppose; I have many good knife shops close by that sell all the major brands.

I'm just trying to understand...to each his/her own.
I bought it online without ever handling it. If a knife looks good, I'll buy it and if I don't like it, I'll sell it. (i rarely find a knife that i dont like) I have a mess of knives and don't tend to keep the ones that I don't like. The particular knife in question, however, I would have felt bad accepting money for.

In the knife world an $89 gamble is trivial as SE6 said. A real gamble is dropping $425 on a CRK, Umnumzaan sight unseen, without ever handling one. That gamble paid off though.

Hopefully sometime in the near future ill be gambling on a Hinderer XM-18 and a ZT0600.

My daily use knife was a Sabenza that was given to me. Those are well made knives.

That's the same reason I have to stay off the watch forums.

Something else I have in the rotation is the Buck-Strider SBMF that I picked up a whim. It's probably one of my better buys, because its overbuilt and is made with typical high quality steel that you can expect from Buck. Not a knock off or cheap clone, I recommend it highly, if for no other reason than the confidence it engenders... This is a damned tough folder.

Superior materials with superior ergonomics.

There ain't many troubles that a man can't fix with $700 and a .30-06.

I gifted one those to a friend who did not regularly carry a knife. It wore coyote scales and used S30V blade steel.

He hasn't been caught without it since.

Bah, had my fill of that trying to track down a nice Rukus for under $300.

Another that gets some carry time is my Hankins custom kiridashi.

Upgraded my knives... ZT300 in back right pocket, spyderco endura wave in front left pocket, and cold steel push dagger clipped to back defender under shirt.

Sent from my iPhone... which probably auto-corrected something wrong
