S&W model 36 with 3-inch barrel. Is it a snubbie?
Is a 3 inch barrel revolver a snub nose or not? Mine is a SW m36 no dash with a 3 inch barrel.

Snubbier than some, less so than others.

One of these followed me home awhile back. It's a tad too long to be a real snubbie, but it's a superb shooter, and quite slender and easy to conceal.
I wouldn't, however, call it a pocket gun...

IMO 3" or less is a snubby.

In the old days it was 2 1/4 inches or less to be a snub nose.

Actually, the 2 1/2" 19/66's were still considered snubs (from back around when the M10's could be found with 2" barrels).
The 3" wheelies were an interesting sub-category, I suppose you might say. You'd hear them referred to as simply 3" models, or as snubs, depending on the context.
I'd not quibble over an extra half an inch in length (2 1/2 to 3") removing them from the snub category.
It's yours. Call it what you will.
I call my M36 3" Heavy Barrel a snub.

It's subjective.
I normally think of a snubnose as a pocket pistol.
But a 2" N-Frame isn't going in our pocket!
For some reason 2-2.5 inch is a snubbie to me.
Four inch no way.
But three inches???
Not really a snubnose to me.
But that's just me...
4 inch 629-2
3 inch 65-3
2.125 inch 640-1 Snubnose
