Charity Work

How many people out there would go out of their way to buy an AR-15 or accessories if some of the proceeds when to charity? Im talking about the same price or slightly more that you were already going to pay for the products. Would it make a difference to you, or would you just buy wherever?

Just started a small business and was wondering if people actual cared about charities still. I'm not trying to advertise, but i'm trying to get a general consensus on how people still feel about charities now a days.

Depends on the charity and the people with their hand out for it. Too many charities mismanage or tip the till....Hey I'm just say'in

With that being said..My favorite charities would be for children or animals.

As TF said, would depend on the charity, who was running it, etc. I don't mind paying a couple extra bucks for something I needed anyway if the extra goes to a good cause.

Another forum I frequent helped out a Veteran. Long story short
his rifle was stolen. Members pitched in with parts and funds.
His stolen rifle was replaced by a better one. Some may not
consider this charity, but in the end it was all about helping
someone that needed it and was deserving of it.

So there're those thatbarebwilling to help others. When I dontate to
Charities, I am interested in the percentage of the funds that actually
make it to the cause. Many charities' overhead costs eat up 30-40%
of the funds collected on overhead.

Nope. I give to my own charities. I don't buy stuff from someone/vendors just because they donate some of their proceeds to charities.

This. I support established charitable groups monthly and I trust that they get what's needed to those that need it most.

Thanks for the input guys. If the charities happened to the the Aspca, Susan b Komen for the Cure, and the Wounded Warriors Project, would that influence you?

Third one, yes. Other two, not so much.

No. Don’t know about the first 2 but with WWP, you go to their site, print a form and write them a check. There’s no reason to go through a middleman or buy unauthorized merchandise with the expectation that some of the money might find it’s way to a good cause.
Charity events make money for the cause but they make more money for the people putting on the events.
I don’t mean this to sound rude cause you seem like a decent fella but since you asked the question........

You can go to these sites to see which charities are best in terms of how they spend the donations. As someone mentioned, some charities make more for the administrators than they give to the charity recipients.

I knew a lot of people would feel this way, so that's why I call and emailed Susan Komen and the wounded warriors. I'm fully endorsed by then and have their permission to collect for them. I have a donation page on their website with a direct link to theirs from my business' website. Currently waiting on corporate response from wounded warriors.

I didn't start this business for charity specifically, but I wanted to give back. My aunt beat breast cancer, and my mother is a disabled veteran. Not exactly a wounded warrior, but I like their cause. Both causes are close to me so I figured i'd give people the option of chosing.

Thanks for everyones input

Too many charities are out there crying the blues for their cause then ripping off the donations for their own personal cause...GREED.

I prefer to choose the charities I support by paying them directly. That being said I do occasionally do the NRA round up, add a $1 at Petco/Petsmart and now that there is a Cabela's about 5 miles from my house they round to the nearest dollar for wildlife conservation or something like that. Of course with the new Cabela's arrival there seems to be less money in my accounts...

Our local Boy Scout council holds a fund-raising auction every year. Over the years I have spent tens of thousands of dollars (don't even know how many items), including multiple guns. Many items I have taken home at bargain prices, but I will usually go above street prices and maybe even MSRP.

I don't have any problems with the money because I know the charity and that all the items for sale are donated. The auction just adds a little fun to the donation process. I usually donate items to be sold as well as buy other things. Last November I came home with a Glock 22gen4, Ruger 10/22, and some stuff that I don't even remember for my wife.

One of my charities is the local 100 Club, which helps families of fallen LEO/FFs. 100% of the donation to the Survivor's Fund goes to help the dependents of the fallen LEO/FFs.
