Moved to Tac Shotgun forum.
I'm not familiar with the Weatherby, but I've been using Mossy scatterguns for about 3 decades, with no troubles at all. Lots of options nowadays, too.

Of the two, the Mossberg.
I've owned Remingtons, Mossbergs, Benellis and others.
For fighting, I'd prefer an 870, for 'general purpose' the 500 does well. My one hunting shotgun is a 500, the 'right in front of your face' thumb safety is hard to miss. I wouldn't turn one down for self defense use, but after many years of using both, for a dedicated combat shotgun i'd personally go with the 870, or a 590A1.

I would go with the Mossberg because its a proven design.
The Pa-08 is a Turkish import that used to be imported by Charles Daly. Who knows how long Weatherby will continue to bring them in so parts availability might be an issue.

I have a tricked-out, tactical 870. However, the Mossbergs are very nice too.

Lots of guns will shoot a 12 gauge shell however when you look around at what LEO and serious students of HD train with and use, you will see Remington and Mossberg. In police work that's called a clue.
Other brands work however those two brands are sitting in the front row right under the teaher's nose.
Disclaimer: I own a couple of 870's and a Winchester 1200. All work fine although I'd grab my 870P and take it anywhere there's potential harm and I'd do so with 100% confidence in that weapon

The Mossberg 500 is hard to beat IMO. The shell lifter stays up making reloading easier and the safety is very easy to use.

Mossberg is tough to beat all around (of the two listed).

Of the two options listed, I'd take the M500, as I've used them for 25 years and have fired them a lot. Looking at comparable guns, I'd consider a Remington 870; 25077 perhaps. I like the Mossbergs a lot, but prefer an 870.
