Thanks, I wasn't familiar with this. Do you think someone with minimal weapon experience would find it difficult to disassemble/clean? Any tips etc.

Very simple and straightforward.

Plenty of Youtube vid's to help, too.

Only NEOS "tips" I'd share are to keep the firing pin and channel clean and use CCI Mini-Mag ammo.

I have one with a 6" barrel with a Primary Arms red dot, and it's boringly accurate at 50 yds. (But the trigger is just awful.)
Also bought a 4" barrel, too.

I have a Ruger SR22 on the way from Bud's, and I'm hoping it's "the one for the money".

I have had such poor luck with Remington cheapo "bricks" that I took some "duds" home and pulled the bullets. They didn't even have any primer stuff in them, like the "good" rounds I took apart. (fine green colored "thread" across the base)

Cheapo Federals for me and: S&W 22S, Colt, Rugar, P22.

First filter out the bad ammo, then filter the gun makers.

I bought a Ruger SR22 3 weeks ago for my wife. After about 300 rounds through it, we both love its dependability, styling, accuracy. I wish I had one of my own... It shoots cheap Federal bulk from Wally World with no problems. You'll love it!!Rod

Just unlucky, I guess, but I have only one .22LR firearm that is not ammo picky, and it's a revolver.

CCI Mini Mag runs well, but is ~$.06 to $.07 per round.

My MKII 2/45 and GSG has been totally reliable on everything from Fed Bulk, Remington, Winchester, to Aguilla super Maximum. Both guns actually shoot Remington Viper the best for accuracy.

How about older guns, such as HighStandard model-B and duramatic? both are all steel, well built (They just don't build pistols like that any more), and reliable. Replacement parts are readily avaialble.

I think a lot of .22's are picky until they are broke in. At first my GSG didn't want anything but mini mags, now it will eat any ammo I put in it including Federal bulk from Walmart. I read a lot about the P22 being ammo picky but we don't have a problem with my wifes, we ran 100 rounds of mini mags and right at 400 rounds of Federal bulk in it with only one misfire!

I have a Phoenix Arms HP22 and a Kel Tec PLR22 that both run on anything. But i wouldn't say they are the best guns for training, but they are fun.

For that I would get the Ruger SP22.

I saw a couple people say S&W 22A, I had a horrible experience with mine. I ended up trading it to the owner of a range for 2 free trips in and 100 rounds of 9mm. With all its problems (that he was aware of) I feel I got the better of the trade.

I am not highly experienced with 22s but what I do know is my 22/45 had many ftf with remington thunderbolt ammo. This was all rounds being struck and not firing. These were also the exposed lead bullets that got lead all over my fingers. Switched to cheap federal copper plated bulk packs from walmart and don't remember any failures to fire.

So aside from junky junk remington stuff that seemed to have bad primers, not much problems. Are other autos less reliable because they have to cycle a complete slide as opposed to the rugers and brownings?

I've had my browning buckmark for probably 8 years now, 10s of thousands of rounds through it and very few issues. All I shoot is the cheapest ammo I can find, I don't believe in expensive .22s. The only issues I've had is a few failure to fire due to bad primers. I've had it jam maybe a couple of times due to way too many rounds fired without cleaning it. I usually shoot a brick or so everytime I take it out.

I'm currently looking at picking up the SR22 for the fiance. She loves shooting my .22 but wants something thats hers alone, and not a hand me down.

I picked up an SR22 mainly for my daughter to shoot took it out today ran about 400 rounds of cheap remington bulk through it zero failures I can't comment on accuracy as she's only 11 and this is her first time shooting a pistol so we're talking patterns as opposed to groups right now

That's great to hear! Bet you 2 had a blast. She'll be out shooting her old man before you know it. LOL Can't wait till my granddaughter is old enough to learn to shoot my SR22P.

Sold the NEOS with the extra 6" barrel and threw in 100 rnds of CCI Mini-Mags.

At $325 for the package, it lasted all of four hours.

Bought a Ruger SR22 which eats ammo like a hound dog. It doesn't even have to smell or look edible.

AND, a real .22 rimfire, a S&W Model 41, but it ain't here yet.

I like this little booger:

GSG 1911-22 works pretty good with all ammo as long as I don't let it dry out. My old Hi-Standard supermatic only liked mini-mags and was thus returned to an oily cloth to appreciate.

My old Beretta 70S has always been very reliable no matter what 22 LR I feed it.

only took 4 hours to sell the Neo at $325? wow, must be the election-year thing.

Last time I saw a like new 6" bbl Neo in a shop, the asking price was $180 and it took them about a month to sell it.

+1 on the Neos. I've not found anything that it won't eat.
