I thought it was just a myth....

I was asked by a couple of youth that I was citing for no seatbelt and drug paraphernalia if I could cite them when I wasn't wearing my hat.

They said their high school teacher told them that they couldn't be cited if I was out of uniform. That and I had to have a search warrant to search their vehicle.

I almost let them go.

Their HS teacher can appear in the court on their behalf as an expert witness then. He's obviously well versed in police procedure.

We have a local college nearby where the students will tell us we don't have a right to enter without a warrant even when the situtation fits onw of the exceptions to the 4th Amendment.

Once I asked one of them where they heard that. Apparently it was a sociology prof who was telling them that. It reminded me of a sociology class where the prof said that Hitler siezed power in 1933. He was elected. Some people need to learn they need to teach within their expertise.

Is that the college with a Black Panther terrorist and an avowed Marxist as tenured professors?

I agree. It makes me wonder how much erroneous crap is being thrown at the students.

The only thing I can remember being told is that the 2nd Amendment wasn't for the people, but for the National Guard and everyone else with a gun is committing treason.

Yes but the Black Panther retired. Even revolutionaries like to play shuffleboard.

On a side note I like how all the "the second amendment is for the national guard" people also say police should have guns too. Since when have I been in the national guard?

Easiest way to ask it, if the Bill of Rights protect the individual, as the Founders intended, why would they insert a collective state right in the 2nd Amendment, right between every other right that protects the individual?

That is, the 1st, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th and 1/2 of the 10th Amendments protect the individual, and the 2nd is not?

Yet, the plain wording of the operative phrase is the Right of the PEOPLE to keep and bear arms?

These liberal professors really turn off their brain when teaching sometimes.

A lot of it these days seems to come from the companies that produce text books wanting to write their own versions of events, ideas and whatnot.

Several of my favorite HS teachers taught from old books that they purchased with their own money and kept for the class to use.

I believe the 4A does say something about, in addition to all that other carp, agents acting on behalf of the government must be "properly attired..."

Someone started a rumor years ago that my agency could only write tickets on one side of this State Hwy. So I can sit on one side and people coming the other way see me and wave as they drive by at 70mph just before they get a ticket. And yes, it is clearly marked with Speed Limit signs and ******* City Limits.

The only ones I can symphasize with are the ones that think once they see a speed limit sign that's when they can speed up but in TN the zone starts at the sign.
