CHL Plays Cop, Charged With Murder

Going through the academy would have been cheaper than attorney fees.

Anyone have a link to the video of the incident? I'd like to see what the jury saw.

I'll give credit where it's due - at least the guy wasn't so cowardly he had to call the police rather than ask his neighbors to turn down the stereo. Most here would be hiding in a closet with body armor and a cell phone (based on years of reading their posts).

I'm with you if they're knifing or raping people in the yard, but take a gun expecting to control the situation with a bunch of testosterone-fueled drunk guys who won't turn their music down?

All that takes is a big case of STUPID.

Not a real smart thing to do! Go ask once for them to turn it down - let them know if they don't you'll call the cops next. End it go home let them drunk dorks decide there course of action. And to the OP how was he playing cop? You need to change your title he never said he was LEO in the video. And yes as a citizen anyone has the right to ask those creating a nusance to turn there MUSIC DOWN!

I've done it many times, ask politely once -inform them if they don't the next knock will be a cop! Most time if they have any common sense it's over -never have to call PoPo.

He is toast.

Had he stayed in his house, waiting for police to arrive, it would have worked out much better for him.

He was asking for trouble there. I don't understand why he didn't just call the police and complain about a sound ordinance violation. There was no reason to leave his home.

Not sure what one of the victim's being a PE teacher, and one a firefighter hs to do with the case.

Not even sure why their inclusion of those irrelevent details jumped out at me.

It gets about 1000% harder to sell a "good shoot" when you go to someone else's party to lodge a complaint, and go armed......

As in the case of Zimmerman, this guy went looking for trouble. I hope he is found guilty. Just another example of someone who should never have had a permit and why many people are against CC.

I don't know, maybe to show that they were employed, productive members of the community and not a party full of ganbangers or thugs.

Damn stupid SOB had every chance in the world to walk away. This is the kind of **** that feeds the fuel to the anti-crowd, and each retard move like this can tip the scales of public opinion more and more.

Drunk guy tells you that because you're flashing your gun, he's going into his house to get his gun...

And you just ****ing stand there waiting for him to get back???

"I'm standing my ground, and now they're going to kill me."

WTF? I wanna hang this idiot myself. "God damn I hope I don't die of old age before I get a chance to shoot somebody with my gun."

*******!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Rant over.

I thought the reason to carry a gun was to defend yourself? Loud music does not put anyone in danger.

Lots of bad decisions.

This is why when the conversation comes up about CCW training, I am always in favor. Basic gun handling training just makes you a competent gun owner. CCW training in my opinion should include laws of self defense, criminal law, live role-playing scenarios, simunition trainings, de-escalating verbal skills, and stressful decision making.

Idiot! You guys mark my words, cases like this and the zimmerman case will further restrict our right to own a firearm.

I sure hope i am wrong though.

The camera vigilante is lucky he wasn't shot. Think about it from the other perspective. Someone is standing on YOUR property and pulled out a gun on one of your unarmed visitors while demanding you turn down the music. What a f'ing goof.

Everyone has probably had a loud jerk neighbor. Walk over, shake his hand, ask him politely to keep it down. If some time goes by and it is still loud, ask the police to give the next warning or issue a ticket.

This.

And the big difference? They would be within their rights(BAC notwithstanding).

Anyone else hear the guy say: "Here I am standing my ground". ?

Some people read the law and hope that they will never be in a situation where they have to use their weapon and others....

Random variation within a populace is always and interesting thing.

I got from the video he was on the opposite side of a road, probably his property but seriously was this guy drunk too. That's one case where he gives the jury all the evidence to convict himself

I've never called the police on my neighbors for playing loud music. But I have been the guy using my saw past 10 pm and had the police at my door asking me to stop my construction work.

Really, the shooter is an idiot. Just call the law enforcement and let them ask the guys to turn it down. Problem solved. He was looking for trouble. When you initiate a conflict it seems hard to say you're standing your ground. He was standing in his own house when we walked over to the other guys, pulled his gun, waited a long time for things to get worse, and then decided to shoot. He had ample opportunity to leave the bad situation that he really started.

Personally, unless I know the folks pretty well, I'm not going over to a bunch of drunk guys alone and start telling them what to do. Go back home and call the cops. Jeez...

Too many idiots in this world. I do actually anticipate laws being refined. The Zimmerman/Martin case is high profile, but if you initiate a confrontation, I think it is at some point going to get harder to claim self defense.
