Ruger 10/22 "Takedown"....Where are They?

What happened to all the "Takedown" 10/22s out there? Was it a limited run and now they are gone?

I am confused.....and diasappointed!

Any thoughts?

I bet the sold a ton of them. My LGS had one last week. I heard Ruger was back logged and wasn't taking orders right now. They had a record year last year.

They probably sold out of the first run in a matter of days (if that). I'm sure there will be more at some point.

The small local gun store has received three in the last few weeks. I bought one last week.

It comes with a nice carry case.

Not much to say about it. It's just a light weight 10/22 carbine.

I saw one yesterday at the show. They were putting it together for a prospective customer - it certainly went together easily.

Were you at the war memorial auditorium? I'm thinking about going today.

Do you recall what the price was at the show?

Yes. I didn't see or hear the price. Only the Best had at least one, and in the past their prices seem a bit high to me. Shoot Straight had two Shields in .40. They of course also tend to be high.

I don't buy my guns at shows or shops anymore. The majority of my gun buys are from Bud's.

Bud's ROCKS!!!!!

WOW! I have $250 saved up for mine right now. If I saw one at my local shop for $300 or so, I would leave with it!!!

Those are great prices....did you get one?

I agree that prices at shows and often at the local shops are not good. However I was happy with the P239 I got last time at War Memorial for well less than 400. And just because I don't (usually) buy there seldom keeps me from going, looking, and handling.

I go to ALMOST every show there.

Didn't go today because my daughter is sick.....but normally I would be there!!!

I did get a Norinco Type 84S there a couple years ago for $550! They sell now for OVER $1K

I go because I have been going to that show since '86

Plus, I enjoy it!

No, I have a couple 10/22s already and to be honest, the stock feels really cheap on the takedown model. I do like the concept though.

With all the other back ordered Ruger guns.

Ruger is reported running a 1,000,000 gun backlog right now. I hope this doesn't cause them fatal problems. Sometimes when a company expands too fast to meet demand they can lose their way.

Ruger has several of the best selling and most interesting new guns out there right now. Thank God they didn't do the Shield or we wouldn't be able to get anything now.

I am glad I picked up my SR22 when I did. I was in my LGS yesterday and asked when they might get more in (I am looking to get a second one). His answer, probably 6 months.

There were plenty of the SR22 pistols at the show today for under $350.
Last week I bought my second one from Cheaper Than Dirt for $299.

I bought the 1st one I ever laid eyes on about 3 weeks ago for 299. What a SWEET rifle!! I am so glad I bought it. I have stocked up on hi cap factory Ruger 25 rounders and ammo. I can decide what glass to put on it. I want a 3-9 or 2-7 variable for sure. Looking hard at a Nikon Prostaff 3x9 with the BDC 150 reticle. My hesitation on the BDC 150 is that it is designed for 1600fps (Stinger) ammo. I will be using the federal standard 1250 fps ammo mostly and dont know how it would effect that type Prostaff reticle. Thoughts please? And or thoughts on that scope or any other variable power scope you think would be a great idea. The rifle is going to be used for a little of everything.

Mine just fits in the bag with this short 4X scope;

Thanks. Looks like a full size 3x9 might be too big for the bag!!

I've been shooting mine a good bit the last couple weeks.

Typical 10/22. Some ammo jams feeding or ejecting, some shoots good.

Not great accuracy (35 yards) but it could be the scope. I may swap out today. Besides, this scope is too long to fit the carry case (Simmons 4X 22 scope).

My other 10/22 rifle and Charger are more accurate.

It cost $330 at the LGS but most guns are a little higher at this store.
