Quite a few Glock Talk members have chronoed Double Tap rounds that haven't lived up to published velocity numbers.
I have some DT Gold Dot .357sig ammo I bought about five years ago and it doesn't seem any different than all the other .357sig rounds I've shot. However, that's just my impression, not from any measured statistics.

I'll have to see what the Chronograph readings are for these specific rounds.

First you have to believe DTs chrono numbers, most actual test data show they over estimate, as do all ammo manuf. Second, I wouldn't trust any of the 115grJHP manuf to hold up in that high a vel impact. If the bullet hits bone, it's likey to fragment & severely limit penetration, but if you are impressed w/ such numbers, go for it.

I'm very close to deciding on a Glock model in .357 SIG. I think that the Glock line has the best platform for the .357 SIG chambering, low bore axis, high-cap, durability, reliability etc.

The 31 & 32 are awesome!! I use the 31 for OWB carry & my 32 for IWB EDC. The 31 is a sweet shooter but, the 32 is a fast carry gun. You can't go wrong!!

I replaced my old Glock 32 with a SIG P229 SAS Gen. 1 and couldn't be happier. The 32 holds one extra round in the magazine, but suffers from much stiffer recoil due to the lighter frame and slide. In my experience, the 229 vastly outshines the Glock in 357SIG.

It is a tough choice lol! I am leaning towards the 31, mainly because of the 4.5" barrel. This may be the longest that I've ever debated over a firearm purchase.

I have a 229 in .40 S&W. I'm however, not a fan of caliber conversion barrels etc. I like my guns to be one caliber and one only.

I just don't like "Frankensteining" my firearms, swapping calibers, doing this, doing that etc.
One of my pet peeves is mismatching uppers and lowers on AR's, it's drives me nuts! I don't care if we're talking about an Knights Armament upper on an LMT lower, it just irks me!

Thanks for the info man. I'm mostly interested in Gen 4s at this point though, but I'll check it out!

Maybe, but for me the 229 is a no-go in terms of carryability. I wish it weren't as I love that gun.

I've never had the chance to chrono the Double Tap .357 Sig. However, I've tested a bit of their ammo in other calibers. All but one came up short of the advertised velocity.
There is better for the money. I will say, if it actually did get those velocity numbers, then .357 Sig would actually equal the .357 Magnum.
At least until the gun battered itself to death!

My G27 with a 3.46" 357 barrel kicks hard.
Add a 4.16" dual ported barrel and it's ready for fast combat work.
But when I loaded up hot Speer Duty 1375 fps in it,
it's back to bucking - LOL!
In that gun I run Winchester Ranger T-Series for SD.
My 4" 44 Mag, on a good day, will put down a bear.
But it's no combat pistol.
IMHO - fast is good, but there's a point where it's no good.

I was a bit put off shooting my first serious duty caliber handgun, my Generation 3 G-32 because of the "stiff" recoil you mention. After I installed a Wolff stainless steel guide rod and Wolff 20# spring the muzzle flip was noticeably reduced.
Not questioning your preferred choice, just mentioning what a tweak did for me.

Lmao! Stiff recoil from a puny little .35 cal? Are you serious? Try shooting the Smith .500 Mag or any Magnum caliber revolver, it makes these medium powered pistol calibers seem like BB guns.

The .357 SIG in a sub-compact, does not kick hard to me lol!
I shot my buddy's G29 10mm with full power defensive JHPs, and it's a powderpuff just like all autoloader calibers, with possibly the exception of the .50 AE, but even that is light compared to the .500 and anything .41 mag and above.

This is a good video for the recoil sensitive.

"Stiff" is the term the poster I responded to used, but I understand his meaning. Like him I didn't initially like the recoil characteristics from my stock G-32, although it was not as bad as the .40S&W pistols I'd shot. The Wolff system I installed brought the recoil to just a bit more than my fine 9mm with +P+ ammo.
At any rate, it's all relative as the Magnums and one .50 caliber revolvers I have shot don't kick like a 12 gauge; and regardless of caliber or weapon if one can make it as shooter friendly as possible that's a good thing.

Agreed. The recoil of the S&W 500 is quite manageable in the 8 3/8" barrel configuration. Although the gentleman in the video is using the 4" barrel model and shooting 700 grainers! That is one monstrous lead ingot!

It's astonishing to think that just one of those enormous 700 grain rounds weights over three times the weight of the 230 grain .45 ACP round! If ever rated in one shot stops, it would be at 100% lol!

maybe, but you'd be a tard to carry one for SD. If you missed with your first shot you would have about 6 rds in you or a knife in your sternum from the BG before you got off a second shot.
gunfights are all about rapid accurate gunfire. hand cannons are for hunting bears or saying "everyone look at me" at the range
