Glock newbie from Michigan
Its hard to say where to start, but it all began on a camping trip last spring. I grew up with firearms, long guns not pistols. Firearm safety was hammered into me at a young age. I only fooled around with friends pistols at the range or in the woods but I never had any proper pistol instruction. I never felt the need to own much less carry a pistol until last spring. We found oursevles the only campers in the campground, with no ranger(it was before the season), spotty cell phone coverage. All of that did not make me nervous. It was the truck loads of "townies" crusing through the campground late in the afternoon that it dawned on me that prehaps I needed something more than the coffeepot to defend us with. I shopped around and researched several different guns but settled on a Glock 19 gen 4. I was not sure that I would really carry or not but I wanted the option to do so if I wanted to. I took my CPL class in early December(right after buying the 19) and had put a few rounds through it. I submitted my application the next day and in February I got my CPL. The Glock is going camping with us now inside a GunVault case in the camper. I have carried the gun a few times and I am getting more comfortable carrying. I will save that for another time. I go to the range about once every two weeks. I have become much more proficient and confident with the Glock now. I plan to take an advance class later this spring. So anyway, thats my story. I have to say that I have learned a lot from this forum. Thanks for letting me ramble on.

Thanks guys. This was my first attempt to post anything here. I have been reading this board since I got my G19 back in late November. There is lots of useful information here. I am still working on becoming more proficient with my Glock and getting used to carrying it. Thanks again.

Welcome to the party!
Excellent choice for your first pistol(though likely not your last), it'll serve you well. You've got the right idea, practice makes perfect, stay with it!

Swimmerglock, you have the right to defend yourself. That's what it is all about. Sure, there's all the hobby stuff. But when it comes down to it, your Glock is your statement that you are not going to be a passive victim.
I'm mild mannered and mostly polite in the real world. My gun is on me all the time, concealed.

I am mostly shooting at Close Quarters Tactical. They are located at 23 mile and Hayes. Nice range, however, be sure to call first. They close the range for groups(LE) from time to time. Like today. CQT is the closest range for me. Williams Gunsight over in Davdison has a handgun range but is 40 miles away. I carry whenever I am going to the range which is about every two weeks. I am still getting used to carrying my Glock but I find that it is getting easier everytime I put it on. By the way, the best holster that I have found for summer concealment is the belly band. I just leave my tee shirt untucked and I dont feel that Iam printing myself as I walk around town.
