Knives

I have a question regarding the use of knives in self defense. Are knives really poor choices when it comes to stopping threats once they are attacking you? I keep hearing about how knives suck in these situations but in the hands of a skilled user, are they not effective?

Most of us would rather have a gun than a knife for self-defense: more distance, of course, and often more deterrent effect. As with the gun, placement of the injury is the main determining factor in stopping the attack. While I've certainly seen cases where someone untrained with the knife successfully defended themselves or another with one, the trained person will always be the most formidable opponent.

best,
Mas
