Hey buddy.. Their out here every moring gobbling away. I just have not had the time to mess with them yet. I'll shoot one for supper in a day or two. Flock looks good, and they look real healthy. After all the fires we had last year i am glad to see this. With no rain to speak of and no winter at all here, we got plenty of grubs and hoppers and stuff for them to eat, and the winter wheat is is fair to midland. Rain would help !
Haven't you got one yet amigo ?
Bless ya man
Good hunting !

My FIL shot at one with his .45 the other day while we were hog hunting... he missed.

I grew up in Draper then spent nearly 35 years in Alaska.
Now I'm retired and hunt and fish any time I want.... unless it is raining.
Around here there is a deer in every patch of woods.
And a couple less turkeys.
After this very mild winter you should have great hunting.

i wish we could hunt turkey with either a .22 or a handgun. that sounds fun. my brother has a silenced .22 that would make it too easy.
i go it the hard way...i use archery tools.

I did that once. He flew away with my arrow but landed on the next ridge. I had expected a complete pass-through because I usually get a pass-through on deer.
I circled and got above him.
He flew back to where I first shot him.
So I sneaked back around and finished him with another arrow.
I suspect I need a different broadhead for turkeys.
22 magnum has to be my favorite. Especially for those gobblers that seem to know the range of a shotgun and strut around 60 yards out.
A couple years ago I acquired a huge double-barreled 10 gauge. It will reach out and get-em but it is heavy!
I've never taken a turkey with a muzzleloader, so next season....
I was talking with some NC guys at the Morganton shoot last weekend and they can hunt turkeys only in counties along the VA/NC border and then only with shotguns.
My comment was, "I'd move!"

Got one a couple of weeks ago
Great hunt that morning. This tom almost snuck by me, but he gobbled one last time and I sat up and popped him. Got caught up in the heat of the moment and pulled the trigger. Afterward my dad stood by the tree we were set up in and hit me with the range finder where the bird fell. 66yds! Haven't ever shot a turkey over 35 yds or so and was shocked when he ranged it. This is my first year shooting that Hevi-Shot magnum blend and it hits hard. This old fella dropped right in his tracks. Shot 3 1/2 - 5, 6, 7 shot blend out of my trusty SBE 1.

How to Kill A Turkey if your a city guy and on meds !
Noway,
I 'stumbled' across this today 'literally" and I needed a laugh. It is frightening to think there are really folks out there like this...
That's why we carry guns I guess !
I hope he does one with a live bird !
Thought it was worth a laugh..

Unfortunately I've been stumped so far this season. I've seen a flock of +50 turkey in rifle season, I could only confirm 2 as jakes. I have trail cam pics of birds, a nice gobbler about a month ago, and land owners have seen/heard many in the last 2 weeks. 1 was taken 2 weeks ago. Yet I can't see or hear a thing! I've tried roosting birds and I can't locate anything except for 100's of turkey vultures. I'm not sure what gives here. This is pretty much blowing my mind. I am proficient in calling as I have called birds to me numerous times in the past. Crows are "cawing" like crazy and I don't hear and gobbles in reply to them as well. My guess is bird flu...
