Truglo TFO rear sight screw sticking out

Hi

I got some TFO's two days ago and I had them installed yesterday. However the rear sight screw is sticking out too much and blocks half of the front sight when you aim. I've never seen other TFO's on a Glock so Im not sure if this is normal or not. Here are some pics.

Looks like they gave you the wrong length set screw. Measure the exposed length and take it to a grinder and remove that amount of material off the opposite end and you will be good-to-go. jb

That is either a) not the correct set screw, or b) it's not screwed in.

I'm really not sure. I'm gonna take it back to the armorer today. Yesterday he told me that "its normal". Go figure

I'm gonna buy the sight tool for the front and the rear and next time I'm doing it myself. I mean, Come on. Its so obvious that something is not right when a screw blocks half of your front sight.

And imagine some places. They charge $75 for installation!

That is NOT normal.

Find a small hex key that fits the screw and screw it in yourself. Or, take it to another "armorer", as the one who originally installed them does not know what they are doing.

mine sticks up but maybe like 1 visible thread, not nearly as high as yours. I'd grind it down.

I'm not that old, but I didn't saw that the screw has a hex hole on it. Do you know maybe what size is it?

There should have been one in the package that the sights came in.

I also suggest some Loc-tite to keep it from loosening up.

Does someone know whats the purpose of that screw? Cuz the sight goes in only with the push tool and sits really tight even without the screw. I don't think he touched the screw at all.

If you install them on a really tight dovetail, a small amount might need to be taken off the bottom of the sight with a file. Then, if you want to put them on a different gun with a loose dovetail, you will appreciate having a way to tighten them.

I'd suggest you remove the screw and measure its length. Assuming the hole goes all the way through and isn't designed to just spread a split dovetail, you can measure the thickness of the sight (depth of the hole) before grinding anything off of the set screw. Also, you want to make sure there isn't something in the hole that is blocking the screw.
