That's awesome... I was seriously looking at a M&Pc or XDSC because they had light rails, but ended up going with the G26 because it was the smallest and lightest... I wouldn't carry with a light, but I keep one on my XD45 service when its on the nightstand and would like to do the same with my glock. If it seems to hold up well with cuts in the frame I might have to do this mod as well.

Call first to make sure they are in stock even if the website shows they are. I originally ordered mine from ******. 2 weeks later I found out they didn't have any in stock. They have a reputation for stuff like this. I ended up getting mine off ebay for about $285.

Hey guys, sorry for not posting for such a long time. Just wanted to show off my hybrid leather/kydex IWB holster.

I built a vacuform machine, but it really wasn't working for me. I don't think I had strong enough suction, nor was I working with a large enough piece of kydex. It's something I intend to pursue further though. I think this technique has potential.



I ended up forming most of the kydex by hand using a heat gun and a pair of Hatch police gloves similar to these:



Finishing was done with a dremel cut-off wheel and sanding bit. I formed the belt loops using a small block of wood. The retention is just about perfect. It's the curvature of the leather pressing against the G26 while wearing it that really makes it work. Wore it for a couple hrs last night. Pretty comfy. I'm happy with my first attempt. Looking forward to working more with kydex!

Looks like a pretty decent job to me, and like you said, just need a little bit more stronger suction to make the pistol fit a little tighter

When I made mine, I used a $10 toaster oven from the thrift store, and a pair of leather work gloves. Held the kydex in the oven til it was plyable, then laid it over the gun with some dense foam, and clamped a board over it to my work bench.

My "guess" (strictly IMHO) is that Glock is fully aware and capable of putting rails on the 26/27 frame... However, the cycle timing metrics for a 26/27 is much tighter than for the larger frames. I have known first hand firearm factories that "elect" not to build certain configurations simply because smaller configurations are more dependent upon the shooter grip/ability for reliable cycling.

Most likely, 99.9% of those on this forum would grip securely enough to enable reliable cycling with the myriad of possible light/laser/bayonet configurations that could end up on a 26/27 rail and result in an inordinate amount of customer services "issues" that would be costly when it really isn't a "problem" with the handgun.

On the other hand, it might add "points" to the holy BATFE point grail allowing imports and it could be as simple as adding a rail would limit import ability.

I believe the reason they do not put a rail on the Sub's is because of their own Glock light. It is too big to fit and we all know Glock prides itself on interchangeability.

I was thinking about doing something like this before I ran a google search and found this thread.

I've always been tempted to get a G26 because they are a nice medium sized firearm between my PF-9 and my full size P226. However, I hesitated to get a G26 because it didn't have a rail on it. Even the PF-9 has a rail on it that lets me just throw on a light at the end of the day when I get home if I'm too lazy to get the P226 out of the safe.

I have two questions:

• Is there a light just like the Viridian C5L but without the laser? Lasers are cool, but would really prefer to pay $100 for a light instead of $250 for a laser/light. However, if I have to get the Viridian C5L to get that nice compact size and good fit like the OP got on his G26, I'll do it.
• Do you think it would work better to melt a rail into the frame with a fine point soldering iron? I figure it might preserve more polymer than grinding and give the attachment a better hold. I've seen people do some beautiful detail on their grips with soldering irons. I figure the underside probably requires grinding, but the main rails would benefit from a bit more material.

No reason these Glock subs can't wear many hats. Great shooting guns. I've found his one to be 100% reliable during the still ongoing break-in. I'm sure others feel the same about their G26 & G27.

I would love to have a rail on the 26. I'm currently looking at the M&P9c because of the rail, I want to be able to put a light on it and keep it in the nightstand...

Sorry, I wasn't clear enough. I would be carrying it, but I'd also like to give it nightstand duty with a light and a full size mag.
