I carry my Glock 23 Gen4 in a Safariland Paddle Holster in a FBI Cant position.

Anyone else do this too? Anyone have their holster set up for Straight Drop or Muzzle Forward?

Pros and Cons to each?

FBI cant is not a position, it is an angle. I generally get my leather holsters made with a 5 degree butt forward cant but almost all of my kydex is straight drop. All of which are worn in about the 4 o'clock position. The advantage of the straight drop is that it allows you to keep your wrist locked in line with your forearm throughout your draw, the downside is that it takes marginally longer to draw since you have to come straight up to clear the holster before you can move to present the weapon. With a true FBI cant, the advantage is that you can effectively conceal a larger weapon and your drawstroke begins the presentation as well. The downside is that your grip is naturally going to be slightly weaker since you have to cock your wrist slightly.

Straight drop is preferable. That said, if the butt of the gun is longer than you are thick (back to front) some forward cant may reduce the signature a bit. Excessive cant not only fouls the drawstroke if worn at 9 or 3 o'clock, but will introduce forward printing.

Definitely a forward cant/FBI cant hides your gun better. An FBI cant is 11-degrees (IIRC) but you don't necessarily need that much cant to conceal. Really depends on your body and where you wear the holster.

Personally all my holsters are straight up and down (no cant). Holster at the 3-o'clock position, by the arm. I find it easier/more natural to get a proper grip and drawing.

FBI is 15 degrees forward cant. And remember that that assumes that your paddle is perfectly aligned, which most are not for very long.

I prefer a slight forward cant, at the 3 O'clock position whether its my G27 or my GP100, keep in mind I'm only 6' about 170. Its all about the holster and more importantly a good carry belt.
