Sportsmans Warehoue re-opening in Roanoke

Friend of mine is setting the store up now. I confirmed it off their web site.

Will be open April 16th.

Huh... interesting. Wonder if they'll actually make it this time. Where is it going to be located? Does their old building have current occupants?

I wasn't terribly impressed with their prices but at least it's another option.

Scuttlebutt I heard at my gun club meeting last night that Sportsmans Warehouse (SW) in Roanoke was one of their most profitable stores. The reason they closed was the owner had a lot of money tied up with Bernie Madoff and after that mess, SW closed their stores east of the Mississippi.

Gander needs some local competition anyway.

Danny, I don't know if it's accurate, but the picture on SW website sure looks like the old location right off Hershberger next to Lowes. I have no idea if that property was ever occupied after SW left or not. I don't get to that side of town very often except to visit Roanoke Firearms occasionally.

I have heard they are going back in the same store off of Hershberger. I am very happy they are coming back. Really miss that place, not a fan of Gander at all.

The former SW had very competitive prices (gave WalMart a run for their money) early in their tenure and then these values seemed to go by the wayside as the 2008 panic set in.
