M&P 9C Take Down Lever issue

I just bought a new M&P and while taking it down i noticed that the take down lever would pop back to the normal position wile letting the slide lock down for break down, (after already dropping the take down mechanism inside the frame). I was then having to hold the take down lever and then pressing the slide stop to takedown my 9C.

Does anyone else have this issue or have experience with it?

My M&P 45c does that too... I have to hold the lever in the open position or it will spring back on it's own, even before releasing the slide. It didn't do that when new (I think.... maybe it did and I just don't remember! I may be confusing it with my Sig which of course stays open)

I'm picking up a full size M&P this week, I'll see if it does it too.

I'm pretty sure it's supposed to do that. My M&P9c does it. The manual says the following: Rotate and hold the take down lever clockwise. (Figure 17)

Normal. Go shoot it, sometimes they break in some and no longer do it, but not always.

My 45c was like that but my 9c holds down every time

My new M&P 40 stays rotated but will spring back easily if I just nudge it. I can see why S&W says "hold it down".

Not a big deal either way. But yet another example of how utterly awesome Sigs are!

It's awkward to take down at first. I don't know if I can explain the way that I do it. I'd have to show you. It's really easy when you figure out the best way to do it.

Drop mag - make sure gun is unloaded

Lock slide back
Flip the little sear deactivation lever forward
Flip & hold the take down lever down
Push slide back to release slide lock
Push slide forward off the frame.

The key thing (besides making sure gun is unloaded

) is to lock the slide back. It puts the slide in the exact position to allow you to flip the take down lever.

Pinch the guide rod and the barrel together after racking the slide and the takedown lever won't snap back

All of my M&Ps do it too; you've got to hold it down.

plouffedaddy that M&P 45 is a beauty that is my next gun. but being in MA they are really really hard to find because the MA state police is in the process of switching to them and my dealer said there having a tough time finding them but i have in an order in for one so im just patiently waiting. i had an m&p9c that i loved but i never carried it (carry the 26) but i really want a full size 45
