For you iPod owners:

This handy program will backup all of your media FROM the iPod TO the (windows) computer. Check out the website, you can find all the directions on there. Works great, for a windows computer I wouldn't use anything else to get the stuff back off my iPod. Installed and working, current version, on my windows pc.

For Mac users:

Same thing as sharepod, but for a macintosh computer. Must have iTunes installed for it to work. Installed and working, current version, on my macbook.

podtomac also has a windows version of the program, but i've never used it before so can't speak to it's worth. The mac version of the program is exceptional, however, and I highly recommend it.

One thing, neither of these programs were able to back up apps from my iPod touch, though I didn't look too deeply. Never tried to back up pictures or any other type of data, I can only attest it's worth for recovering music and movies.

Most people think that once it's on the iPod you can't get it back, so have fun with this. By attesting to the current versions, I mean as of the date of this posting.

The software is called CloudApp. It allows you to quickly and easily share files. You drag and drop the file you want to share into the cloud, it uploads it, then it creates a link to the file to send to your friends.

DVD Span. Very useful when backing up customer data to DVD's. It automatically figures out how to place a large amount of data on multiple DVD's either for efficiency or it will also retain the exact directory structure.

Another favorite is Cyber-D's auto delete. I use it to automatically purge my Acronis backup images so I don't have to do it myself. It doesn't run as a service but easy enough to add as a Windows scheduled task

What do you mean you lost your audio? You hear no sounds at all? That sounds more like a hardware issue (possibly driver related) than a need for a freeware application.

Well, I'd say if you haven't had sound for almost 2mo, it's probably not that big of a deal to you...

It is and it isn't. I have an iPhone. It just takes time to load the videos etc...

I did get a 10 pt. buck and he will be not only tasty but make a great gun rack along side my 8 pt. from last year! LOL I am going out with my crossbow this Sunday. There is an elusive buck that all the guys are talking about. I aim to eat him!

After hunting season I will figure out the audio software problem. We won't even be putting our hardwood flooring down until the season's over. IF you are so inclined to give me any help as far as what is the best software program let me know. I really would appreciate it.

I will have to post pics on the appropriate thread of my latest buck. He was on the sneak.

All these free softwares are great and I used to have them, but lately, I don't have any use for them. Oh and if you guys want a free MS Office like applications, try Open Office! Very nice.

Here is one of the many "portable" apps sites - concentrating standalone software that is designed to run from the likes of a thumb drive. (though they run fine on actual computers too)

Some really good windows softwares, things like Gimp (photoshop alternative) explorer++ and notepad++, as well as quite a few other gems all designed to run from your memory key.

I've lately taken to this kind of stuff and figured i'd share. There are quite a few sites out there that deal in this kind of stuff, but this one is the arguable first and best - seems like the best place to get anyone started.

In most cases there are both 32 and 64 and XP/7 versions of the software - but they are all small and it benefits to keep the variance on the thumb drive so you can pick up where you left off no matter what terminal you hit.

Check it out - you'd be surprised what kind of versatility you can carry on a tiny little flash drive.
