.40 or .45?

Mas,

In your opinion, what incapacitates faster: the .40 or .45? I am proficient in both calibers. If both perform well in your opinion, which caliber would you give the edge to? I'm looking for any advantage I can get should my family ever face a lethal encounter.

Thank you for your advice.

Not as simple to answer as to ask. A good hollow point .40 will cause more fight-stopping trauma than a full metal jacket .45. With equivalent loads, the two calibers are reasonably close, though the .45 will tend to tear a wider wound track if velocities are the same.

best,
Mas

Mas,
Being a former Marine I have lived within the Corp's bubble of 45, 45 ,45 and then 45! Your reply helped me see the 40 caliber side! Today I purchased a CX4 Bettera Storm Carbine in 40 caliber! The carbine might not give me more stopping power but it will surely increase my accuracy!

Many Thanks Mas for both your humbleness and street experience!

Semper Fi!
