36 Guide Rod

Probably a stupid question but I didn't notice this prior to field stripping the pistol for cleaning. When I reassembled I noticed the guide rod was protruding slightly from the guide rod hole in the slide. It sticks out nearly as far as the end of the barrel. I double and triple checked to make sure everything was reassembled properly. Function check was unremarkable, no problems. Is this protrusion normal? If it is I feel kind of stupid for not observing it before.

No problem, it will seat itself or you can remove the slide and reseat the spring

Today I went by the store where I bought the pistol for some more range time. Before going to the range I stopped by the sales counter and checked out the Glock display. The sub-compacts I looked at all had the protrusion. Guess I'd never really paid attention to it before. My shooting partner has a 27 and was surprised he'd never spotted it before either.

The gun in your pic seems to have a lot of guide rod hanging out front. My pistols are not the same.
