NC State of Emergency

Looks like Gov. Perdue has declared a state of emergency (SOE) in NC.

I believe current NC law prohibits you from taking a weapon, whether carried openly or concealed, out of your home until the SOE is lifted.

Just a heads up for all you Carolina Glockers.

Be safe this weekend

No problem carrying. Governor specifically states this in the SOE declaration.

Note item 7.http://www.governor.state.nc.us/News...ewsItemID=1983

Thank goodness she has been doing this for the last several SOEs.

Excellent... I was looking for that exception and couldn't find it. Thank you!

Section 7.
This order is adopted pursuant to my powers under Article 1 of Chapter 166A of the General Statutes and under Article 36A of Chapter 14 of the General Statutes. It does not trigger the limitations on weapons in G.S. § 14-288.7 or impose any limitation on the consumption, transportation, sale or purchase of alcoholic beverages.

Have they still not managed to pass the bill in NC to change that law?

No, they have not. Others here may know more than I do on this... but apparently the proposed law change was lumped in with a bunch of other stuff that soured the whole bill.

Love being able to carry here in NC, but cannot understand why the laws prohibit you from carrying when you want to or need to the most!

If we were only going to get some of what we need I'm glad they went with the bill they did pass. It's far more important that the others and we have next year to work on them.

Next year we can focus on the other biggies like carry during a SOE and in restaurants that sell and serve alcohol.

Every journey begins with but a single step.

This is so true with changing laws.

My State Representative told me they were trying to get a number of CC laws changed but couldn't muster the votes due to what the bills were attached to.

I wish they would just try each bill on it's own merits.

Never happen...simply because it makes way too much sense.
