G17 frame, essentially creating a commander style Glock? Sorry if this has been discussed but I'm kind of new to this forum. I'd thought about this in the past but never at a time when I had both a 17 and 19 at the same time to try it.
You can not put a 19 slide onto a 17 frame. The frame would stick out poast the slide and the locking lug is different anyway.
LWD has a conversion adapter (dust cover) that allows you to put the G17 slide (or longer) on top of a G19 frame. See the XL series info here http://bit.ly/pHfcrq
I figured that was the case on the frame length, I was prepared to modify that. It's the locking lug part that I was really questioning and you answered that for me. Thanks for the info, I'll check out that link.
If you want to modify the dust cover of the frame then you could do this project. All you need to do is install the 19 slide, chop the 17 barrel to fit the 19 slide or maybe have it 2 ported like this? http://bit.ly/qfxUsF and then trim the dust cover to fit the slide.
