Slide damage question....

Hello all, new member here. Nice forum!
Anyhow, I have a question about some damage on a Second Gen Glock 22.
It used to be mine, but now it belongs to my nephew. He's had it several years. Recently I was going through it to see what was what, and I noticed damage on the inside of the slide:

The one in the first picture, under the slide stop cutout, is deep enough to have a rather large burr on it. The one on the other side isn't anywhere near as deep.
I looked at my brother's early second gen. 17, and it has wear in the same places, but not as bad as this one. The only thing I can guess is that it is because the earlier locking blocks were so narrow:

Gen 2, G22 frame with narrow locking block on bottom, Gen4 G17 frame on top.
My Gen4 G17 has about twelve hundred rounds through it so far, and it only shows slightly shiny spots where the slide engages the locking block.

So, my biggest question is, is this slide damage a problem? Maybe we just keep an eye on it, and see if it gets worse? I wouldn't worry much, but the G22, despite it's age, has only about a thousand or so rounds through it, and he's taking it with him to a pistol class next weekend, so I just don't want anything going wrong with it.
Thanks in advance for any advice you can give.

Its called slide peen. This used to happen to the Gen1 & Gen2 guns. The Gen3 guns got the issue under control.
Anyhow, the good news is, no worries. If you have a shape edge simply trim it off. The slide will only peen so far and then simply stop.

Thanks JR. I appreciate it.

But as our handgun class was coming up rather quickly, and I didn't know it would take so long to get a response (actually, I thought this posting attempt had just floated off into the ethos....) I went and talked to an Armorer on another forum, and got the same answer.

Thanks anyway! At least now I know I didn't mess up while trying to post! lol
Regards,
KM
