Sights for G17L
I need replacement sights on my G17L. I'm just not crazy about the adjustable rear and the plastic front which has already been bashed and flattened out a bit. I'm leaning towards a nightsight.
What say you Glock Talkers?

I like Meprolite night sights. I have had Glockmeister install all of my sights and they do an excellent job.

The meps on my 2nd Gen G17 lasted 15 years before they went super dim and were replaced by Novaks combat rear and red dot front. I have trigs on my newest 3rd Gen 17. You guys are right, can't really go wrong with either of those two.
I was thinking something sexier though...

Here's a thread from the Long Slide Forum
http://glocktalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1321093
There's a few other suggestions there..
I took off my fixed rear & put a factory rear adjustable & got a Dawson from a forum member to put on the front.. I really like the fiber optic front & have just put some on my G26 as well to give the same sight picture on both my Glocks..
At the range the Fiber optic are the cat's pajamas..

Is the gun for fun, or something else. I'm guessing a 17L is for fun.
Fun...I'd go with Daswson Precision Adjustable Rear with a 0.300 Tall front 0.100 wide fiber optic.
Business...same rear with a night sight/fo combo for the front. There are several options available, but it will need to be 0.300 tall.
I had the sevigny/warren setup on my Glock 34 and just switched to the dawson set up. There's still 0.025" clearnance so you can get a very quick sight picture, but for me it's a little more accurate than the 0.035" clearance with the sevigny set up.
Food for thought.

I have wondered about night sights for a long time....there seems to be no definitive answer....all the different sights are loved by somebody....I wish there was a place to compare them side by side....

On my 17L , I like the Ameriglo front night sight, but I prefer the regular adjustable Glock rear. The front night sight only is a pretty good option and works well as a SD. sight. The Ameriglo is thinner than the factory front ,and gives more daylight on each side for easier sighting.

That's the same way my Dawson is, It's undercut to allow more light for faster target acquisition plus the fiber optics really stand out at the outdoor range..
For self defence it's no better or worse than the factory front sight..
Here's the link to Dawson's Sights..
Rear - http://www.dawsonprecision.com/Glock+Black+Serrated+Rear+Sights
Front - http://www.dawsonprecision.com/Glock+Front+Sights
I have been told by others on the Long Slide Forum that there front sight is shorter & doesn't overhang the cut out in the slide the way mine does BUT there light pipe is shorter & there for not as bright..

Can you post some pics of your Novaks? The sight picture in particular. Is it a traditional 3 dot system or a dot the "i" system? I am just curious as I am not familiar with them.
If you are looking for something sexy, then get a nice 1911. Glocks are meant for fighting not looks.
