I'm completely new to the 308 caliber and I eventually want to hunt with my remington 700. My question is what is a popular grain bullet for mid to long range hunting? Twist rates important to consider as well?

You want the "hunting bullet" that is (1) most accurate in your rifle and (2) has the highest bc. This is found by experimentation since every rifle is different. For a .308, your range will be typically 150-175gr.

Using "match" bullets for hunting is controversial. I know many people who have had success using their regular match loads on game, but they are excellent marksmen as well.
