What is K-Coat?

Im awaiting arrival of a G22 2nd gen, and the owner of the pistol that Im trading for told me that the previous owner before him put this K-Coat stuff over the black oxide on the slide. What is it, how easy/hard and how can I remove it? He also told me that there is about a 3/8ths" spot on the left side of the slide where the coating has come off, could this help me as the starting point to the removal of that stuff? I planning on, when I get it to buff off the black oxide. Thanks for any help, and...go.
Happy Shootin!

K-Coat is a spray on finish and should not pose a problem to remove it. We would sand blast it off if we had the slide, and probably have it removed in about as much time as it took me to type this reply

Are you planning on refinishing the slide? It might be a good ideal as once the K-Coat & oxide are removed you might have problems with it rusting unless you put something else on it to protect it.
