It seems like over the last few months I keep seeing posts about malfunctions and problems with Glocks - 30s, 21s, 23s, 26s, even 19s!
Maybe its just me but these topics used to be few and far between. Is Glock going the way of the "new" Sig (inferior products trying to stand on old reputation).
This is not an anti-Glock thread, nor am I a troll. I have never had an issue with any of the 15+ glocks I have owned over the years, but then again they have all been older (as in 2007 or earlier models). The frequency of such posts justs makes me wonder if I should be alarmed.
Deputy “I don't do the competition thing so I speak only of standard guns” Yes, of course, why try to prove anything to yourself? How did you ever qualify, ever?
I don't want to spoil the upcoming competition videos, but the secret to not limp wristing!!!!??? Is to pretend like your Glock is not Austrian, but Japanese... US Glocks go click, click, click, and Jap Glocks go crick, crick, crick, get it? So instead of limp wristing, it becomes Rimp Listing! If you shoot your Glock upside down, like I will do in the vids, you will see, no rimp listing.
Dep, where's that Harley pic? You wouldn't want me to think you are a poser? That you have never gone to Laughlin? Not the same as a USPSA Hoser, that's way different... Would you? I say hi to Sonny Barger every so often at the Angles Road House in Calimesa. Ever get up there??? Course, Sony has had throat cancer, and talks thru a box now, but it's still Sony...
But you see, the frames have changed over the years to compensate for known problems. There were longer rear frame rails added to the later 2nd Gen frames, another pin added to the 9mms, a metal reinforcement added for the .357 SIG. There was the broken rear rail issue on G19's.
Since I personally trashed a frame on a 2nd Gen G22, I caution against shooting very hot .40/.357S in a 2nd Gen frame without the metal reinforcement. But then again, maybe I just imagined all this.
The Glock frames were indeed reinforced for the .357 sig, no secret. The original Glock was for 9X19 and the .357 didn't exist. I was under the impression, that folks knew to not use hot .40/.357S, in a 2nd gen frame, without the added reinforcement. It's not recommended. I think you could call Glock and they could give you the S/N point, when the frames were reinforced.
The additional pin, for the 9mm Glocks wasn't added for strength, in the 9X19mm. It allowed Glock to use the same frame configuration for all their guns.
I don't know anything about longer, rear frame rails added, to compensate for problems. What was that supposed to fix?
There was the broken rear rail issue on G19's. I thought that was a common problem with a small batch of frames, for all models, within the E serial number range. The rails weren't made right or something like that.
The 45ACP 1911s jam (folks just accept that) and Glocks can jam, with improper grip (some folks can't accept that). I'm not sure what that has to do with anything, though.
