I might try to find some wood ones but the rubber ones are soooo much nicer for shooting.Actually, those aren't even the rubber Hogues.I forgot that I swapped the grips around with my 642 grips. The 642 needs some rubber ones with its light weight and +P ammo.Just a bit jumpy. Some woods for the 36 would be great for presentation, that's for sure.Maybe I'll check Gunbroker for some.

Hey Chuck - here's you another one to look up.

Smith & Wesson 4 inch model 65-1, pinned & recessed, serial #D8015xx.

Also, it has a strange marking on it. The "&" in the "Smith & Wesson" on the left side of the barrel, is shaped like a rounded "E" or maybe even a backwards "3" I've never seen this before on any other S&W revolver. I mean, I've seen the standard "&" and the big ol' fat ones on model 27's and 28's, but I've never seen one like this before.

Damn! I wish I had a camera!

Per the SCSW 3rd. ed., possibly Feb-March 1993.

Per the SCSW3, the Model 65 is the .357 Military & Police Heavy Barrel Stainless. That s/n puts its DOB at somewhere around 1975-76.

What about the strange "&" symbol, Chuck? Can you tell me anything about that?

Hi Chuck, I picked up a Model 15-3 4" today. SN# 6K848XX.

I also have the backwards 3 as the & in Smith & Wesson.

The seller says it is former LE service piece but doesn't know the dates.

Help!!

Per the SCSW3, that date of manufacture is 1948.

And that date should be 1975.

Those are both fine guns!

It'd be the early half of 1986

Hmmm...nope, I have the little guy in my hot little hands right now.

Serial number 11J38x...it has a pinned barrel, regular (not flat latch) cylinder release...it has the regular ampersand on both sides of the barrel, but the LAZY ampersand on the right side of the frame below the cylinder. It also has the wooden grips that are numbered to this little guy, but they are NOT diamond models...just plain ol' checkered.
