Obscure TV Shows You Are Embarrassed To Admit You Enjoyed
Obscure TV Shows You Are Embarrassed To Admit You Enjoyed
I'll get the ball rolling: Father Dowling Mysteries. That is the one where Tom Bosley ( Father from Happy Days) was a priest who solved mysteries. I am also a bit ashamed to admit that I thought his nun assistant was mildly hot. Eric

That was a decent show. No need to be embarrassed by that. Now if you had said Murder She Wrote...

I remember a Buffy episode where they spent the entire show frantically trying to prepare for the arrival of a really horrific demon. The problem was that they had very little info on it. They had a picture of it and some text under the pic that they couldn't translate.
They finally translated the text at the end of the show, as the demon materialized. The demon was indeed fierce looking, but it was only about three inches high. Turns out, the text translated as, "Shown Actual Size." Someone simply stepped on the demon and squashed it. Eric

About 25 years ago there was a short-lived "summer replacement" show that went about 5 episodes and it was hilarious. It starred Brian Keith as a crotchety old man that had to move back in with his kids and grandkids.
I will never forget one scene when they are all discussing the TV news report about a gung shooting with "X" number of rounds fired and one person hurt.
Keith's character is talking to his son and says,
"I got the solution for this gang problem, handgrenades"
"Dad, they can't give the cops handgrenades"
"Who's talking about the cops? Give 'em to the gangs, they can't kill each other worth a darn with guns"

I just cant remember the name of it.

Andy Griffith was the pilot. It started out as a TV Movie I think and it was popular enough they made a one-season Sunday Night TV show out of it.
SALVAGE 1!!!!! (Thank you IMDB!) Bad bad bad show. The whole thing was the gub'mint trying to shut him down as he tried to launch rockets. Funny stuff.

Smothers Brothers was great. Also great when they re-hashed it in the late 80's. It died a quiet death, but DANG it was very good produced television.

Well, I was a 90's kid, which meant I got to enjoy such wonders of television programming as Swat Kats (with a K because that's EDGY), Biker Mice from Mars, and Samurai Pizza Cats. I also remember one featuring super-powered mummies driving a sarcophagus-shaped batmobile. Y'know, looking back on 90's cartoons, I have to wonder what the hell the execs were smoking.

C&C infuriated me to no end, though I think I was exactly the wrong age to enjoy it. Too young to catch the euphemisms so it was just random and annoying to me, and by the time I found it again, the jokes seemed juvenile. Though my sister says I act like I'm 83 most days, so take that as you will.
I watched a couple episodes of MLP to see what the big deal was. My thinking being that there had to be some sort of reason behind the following. We seriously had a couple guys on the floor back in college nearly come to blows over their favorite character. Though they also nearly came to blows over which was better, Bud Lite or Miller Light, so again, take that as you will.
But anyway, to get back on a tangentially related topic, I watched a couple episodes but never really got into it. I respect what they were/are trying to do, though, which seems to be to make a kid's show that parents can watch without giving themselves boredom-induced concussions similar to the multi-level approach behind the old Adam West Batman. The inclusion of a Benny Hill chase montage was the giveaway.
ETA: By the way, if you just have to watch the Benny Hill bit, for the love of God, use Youtube and not Google. Google is NOT your friend here. There are some things that should never be seen.

It got harder and harder to believe the characters were in high school, as the hairlines receded, didn't it? Eric
