I'll premise this by admitting...I was too anxious and shot the gun right out of the box. Not something I advise and not something I normally do.

With that said, I shot both Hornady CD and reloads that I've chrono'd to be very close to the CD. One exception - my reloaded rounds are longer.

Hornady CD 30 rds cycled fine. Over 200 rds of my reloads and I had 6 failures to extract. The guy who worked there said its not uncommon with that gun since they ship them dry.

I noticed it was pretty absent of any lube. Still, I used a cotton polishing attachment with my dremel and some jeweler a rouge. I polished the chamber and feed ramp. Then I cycled several rounds and cases. Everything appeared to work fine.

If I get more malfunctions, I'll send it back...but I think when it did fail to extract, it was barely having the problem. I'm pretty confident the cleaning, polishing, and proper lubing will resolve the problems.

Accuracy was really impressive. I went to the back of a poorly lit range (25 yds) and was still able to easily hit the bullseye.

It fits in my pocket of cargo shorts and cargo pants. It will be too big for other pants for me. The gun came with 2 mags - 6 rd magazine that fits in the pocket well, and an 8 rd magazine that has an extension (too big for my pocket carry, but great backup mag).

Nanos don't like light bullets, especially at first. Mine will stovepipe or otherwise fail to extract/ eject every once in a while with 115 grain bullets, pretty much any make. The springs are pretty strong. It seems to be a bit more reliable with 115 grain stuff now than it was at first, after it's been "broken in" a bit. I've never had any trouble with anything heavier than 115 grains.

Mine is very accurate as well. Very cool gun. The trigger's a little weird but once you get used to it the gun shoots great. I hold the trigger all the way back until the recoil cycle is over, and then let it reset. That shrank my groups considerably. I think the Nano is the best of the new breed of "micro" 9mms. It's what Glock should have been making for a while now.

The Hornady CD was 115 gr. My reloads are 124 gr Ranier HP. I don't remember the exact measurements...but the reloads are longer than the CDs.

When Beretta did the 1000-rds test on the Nano while it was bone dry, I wonder what ammo they used?

I had a failure to extract with a factory 124 grain Gold Dot somewhere north of the 40th round fired from the gun just out of the box with the factory lubrication. Once I started putting TW25B on the rails and parts of the barrel and hood that contact the slide, I have not had a malfunction with any ammo, including 115 grain jacketed reloads that are loaded on the light side.

Thanks. That's reassuring. I use gunbutter, but I expect there's not much difference versus TW25B.

It's unclear whether they ship them dry or with a dry protective coating. If the latter, I don't think out of the box would be comparible to their test.

I use Hornady CD and Desantis pocket holster in cargo pants and shorts. A great set up. It took about 200 rounds to really get a feel for the trigger, but all is well now.

I visited the range again today and learned a lot more.

After cleaning and polishing the feed ramp and chamber area, I returned to the range today. Results:

3/50 FTE - Ranier 124 gr reloads

0/50 FTE - Independence (never heard of, range ammo) 115 gr FMJ

0/50 FTE - Montana Gold 124 PHP reloads

0/10 FTE - Hornady CDs 115 gr

Additional data - My 124 gr Ranier and MG chrono'd real close (actually the MGs were slightly less). My Ranier chrono very close to the Hornady. My Ranier is longer than I load my MGs and the bullet shape is quite different. In each of the Ranier FTEs, the tip of the next round was behind the empty case.

Conclusion - the FTEs that I experience are related to MY reloads. There is either something with the OAL being longer and or the shape of the Ranier bullet. In either case, I don't see that as a gun issue.

One observation - the takedown pin was no longer flush when I was done. I called Beretta customer service and the guy said his Nano does the same thing. He said to check & ensure it's not oiled. I'll keep an eye on it, but I think it's fine.

Bottom line - I'm very confident in the gun. I'm also very happy with the purchase.

Not surprised. It's a good little gun. I'm really stunned at the low recoil. My LCP has more snap to it. And the accuracy of the Nano is also a pleasant surprise.
