Very nice, a 590A1 may be my only purchase in the next couple of months.

Well did some more research and this gun is not an a1. The a1 has a metal trigger guard, safety, and a "heavy" barrel. This gun is a 590 special purpose, model #50663. I am glad I have this "light" one instead. I have heard that the a1's are over 10lbs fully loaded. Anyway, the OTD price with tax was $520. Online is around $460 -$480 plus shipping and transfer fees....plus I see many places are out of stock so I guess I did ok. I felt fine with that price.

Not much difference in weight my 590A1 is less than 7 1/2 lbs but you can load 9 shells and have 4 more in stock so with 13 rounds on gun would be heavier.

I justed picked up a 590A1 Blackwater at gun show $485 it has the ghost ring sights and rail and tri rail on the pump. This dealer at show whom I have bought many shotguns over the years and he always has the best prices. I went in to buy the 870 tactical with ghost rings but after handling the 590A1 I paid about $50 more to get it. I wish I could figure out how to post pictures?

I bought the same model over a month ago. I like the shotgun. I hate the logo on the right side though. The logo is kind of tacky.

I was kind of indifferent to logo didn't care one way or the other but liked the other features of the gun with its sights and like to carry 4 extra shells without putting side saddle on.

I’m not sure if you know this, but the front sight is adjustable for windage. The small hole in front of the front sight has a small Allen screw in it. Once you loosen it, it moves by hand. Don’t over tighten it.
This is my Mossberg 590A1 Black Water. I made some changes to it and painted it O.D. Green with Dura Coat and painted the forearm FDE.

Is that a mag extension? If so can you tell us what kind & how many rounds it holds?
I like the 18 & 1/2 in length barrel better than the 20 but I did not know you could add an extension to the mag tube.

Not sure what is pictured but Choate makes a flush extension for the 590A1 that I have been running for while.
http://www.shotgunworld.com/bbs/view...36582&start=80 has a discussion on the extension.
Has worked well for me

Sorry I missed this earlier.
Yes it is a mag extension. It is made my s&j hardware especially for the 591a1. It gives me +2 of 2 3/4" shells for a total of 7 + 1.
It also came with the front sling mount.

Thinking about adding a 590 Mossy to the collection, or maybe just another Remington 870 Tactical. I've never owned a Mossberg but have shot many of them and really like what I've seen.

Both good fighting shotguns.. It is really just a personal choice. I chose the 590a1 for the the location of the controls + I like the heavier barrel and tough finish.

Congrats! Based purely on her summary of the new AWB and the rules of the last one, it would only be banned if it was an autoloading shotgun like the Mossberg 930.

You can bet the 590 would be targeted. I have one from before the last AWB / Cali ban.

Just picked up a 590a1 myself. It is pretty awesome if you ask me, and even though I only got the 6rd mag tube, I have the speed feed stock so in total the gun holds 11rds of 2 3/4" shells.
