Waffen Werks AK74 VS. Interarms Polish Tantal
Interwebs! I once again consult your wisdom!
It is time to make another gun purchase. I can't afford an arsenal SGL31-94 side folder, so I've narrowed it down to two guns.
Waffen Werks Ak-74
Interarms Polish Tantal
I already own an Arsenal SLR-101s milled receiver AK-47. Just really attracted to the price of 5.45 surplus right now and would like to be able to shoot more for less.
Anyone heard anything terrible/great about either gun that would make the difference between the two? Basically just looking for someone to talk me into one or the other haha.

I'm Polish and I recommend the Waffen Works, I hope to pick one up in the coming weeks to compliment my SGL21-61. AGS Armament & Consulting LLC. will be my go to online dealer.

Normally I'd recommend the WW but it seems with their latest batch with the new receivers there's been complaints of the dust covers not being able to come off. I'd probably wait a bit for those to see if they've ironed out the kinks, it should be a pretty good rifle otherwise though. The Tantal is fine too. Both however show out of stock on AF's website.

Just word of mouth here as I only own Arsenals. My quick answer is Waffen Works. Interarms used to make good stuff but a lot of people over at AKFiles are having issues as of late (last 6 months). I have only heard a few issues with WW and of that couple I could tell some were more a user issue vs WW issue.

What kind of QC issues are popping up? I've seen the Youtube video of the guy w/ the horrible headspace issue that locked up his receiver every third round w/ the WW.

I've got a Tantal, and it's become one of my favorite rifles. Doesn't like Tula black box ammo though.

Both will likely serve you well. The advantage of the Tantal is it comes with a mil spec mag vs the pro mag with the WW. I personally despise folding stocks (but you can certainly sell it off, as I did with mine) as well but if you like them that may add to the appeal to you.

Both have U.S. made barrels from what I recall, which is a deal breaker for me.

@wayax. Could you name an alternative then? The market seems to be pretty slim in options.

Get a VEPR or Saiga and have it converted professionally. VEPR 5.45s are in stock in several places. Otherwise Arsenal (or whatever the name is now) 5.45s (either Russian or Bulgarian). I see no reason to cheap out because of the "gotta have it now".

I currently have two Waffen Werks rifles. A VZ-58 & AK. The workmanship is very nice and I have nothing but good things to report. If you can get one of the VZ-58's, do so. It is just beautiful.
Cheers

Gorgeous, Plouffe! Now I know what my next rifle will be, since I sold my SAR-2 and still have a crapload of 5.45.......

Ended up going with the waffen werks from AGS armament with the damage ind. for-end installed. So far, loving the rifle. Managed to get a good amount of surplus ammo at a fantastic price(backordered) and it should last me a long long time. I'm very impressed with the rifle so far. Great fit/finish, fantastic trigger(no creep, break surprises you everytime). If I could have found a polish tantal before this whole AWB mess for a good price I think I might have gotten that too, but for now, the WW seems like a great rifle. I'll update more once i've shot the sucker.
