Wake Up!
Man I know this isn't a site dedicated to Fire/EMS but there is next to nothing going on in this part of the site. I'm a First Responder and currently in college for Pre-Med, what about the rest of you guys?

Spectacular, I'm glad to see some action on this part of the forum! Good to know there are people that carry and have the training treat themselves and others in the event of a conflict. Also, I must thank you guys for all th work you do in your communities!

I am a believer in helping those in need, but also not becoming a victim, or letting those I love become one either. Sadly we are usually the last ones thought of until we are needed.

If that isn't the truth... Well spoken, I'm not yet of age to have my CCW but I will get it once I can because I am of the same mindset that you are.

I always tell people to get the ccw even if you don't plan to carry...... you can always choose not to carry, but without a ccw you have no LEGAL choice.

Medic here. Will be 20 years next month as a volly firefighter but not as active as I used to be. Mainly being a full-time medic and reserve police, and that keeps me busy as it is.

Firefighter paramedic x7 years. (EMS certification progressively upgraded over that time frame to what I am now). I work as a paid fire medic in GA. Looking to go part time on the ambulance again.
I agree. This forum has been dead the past few months.

You had to yell just when I was getting some sleep. Never fails.
Retired EMT-I, RN Trauma Nurse Specialist. Nursing pays better, but I'm more proud of "doing it in the streets." About 30 or more years total. Need to go back and do the math I guess.
FWIW: I remember being excited about upgrading from Lifepack 2 to Lifepack 4's. Contrary to rumors, Lifepack 2's were NOT coal fired. That was the Lifepack 1.

First off: Lol to the first sentence. Secondly, that it quite the track record for sure. I'm an aspiring trauma surgeon and complete greenhorn (minus my responder training and minor aid with an MVA and a seizure victim) I'm sure you have a wealth of knowledge for someone such as myself.

Worked in a teaching hospital, level 1 trauma center in El Paso. Could always tell those who had some basic experience. Patient has some FLB's (funny looking beats) on the monitor and the book smart resident starts ordering drugs and shocks. The resident with street experience says"how about if I re-attach this wire first." Happens a lot.
Also, every nurse, doctor, and patient can teach you something new. Look forward to that! If you ever get to the point where you are a know it all, you can't learn anything new, and you'll be dangerous.
Good luck, do the best you can at whatever level you're at. I may need you.

Not the first time I've heard that before. So very true, and honestly in this field (you know better than most) all aspects are ever changing.

Southeast Wisconsin. Career goals are actually to be a cop (I was one for a while) or see how things work out on the fire end of things. Either way, just want to help people.
