Pimp My Glock - G30SF + Cold Bore Customs = AWESOME!!!
Guys,
I just wanted to do this quick review of the work and service I got from Cold Bore Customs.
I picked up a new Gen 3, G30sf (My FIRST Glock!) back in May. After spending some time with it, I can understand the desire to "dump the hump". The big thing is that the texturing on the finger groves was so sharp that it was actually creating callouses, not to mention turning a fun long day of shooting into a painful long day of shooting.
After reading some posts and doing some research, I decided to send my beloved Glock off to Lane. While the before picture is kind of boring, the after ones are what I really like!
Before: Box stock, plain G30sf (great gun, but needed some details ironed out):
Like I said, there was nothing really wrong with the gun. It shoots great and is very accurate. The texturing and trigger guard are the main things I didn't like. Well, Lane took care of that and more!
Just check out these "After" picks...
This last picture shows a close up of the trigger, trigger guard, slide release and mag release.
The work I had Lane do was:
* Grip Reduction with 360 "Executive" texture.
* Undercut the trigger guard.
* Round the trigger guard off.
* Cutout the mag release.
While the gun was apart, I decided to add a few more extra touches. Here's what I did:
* 3.5lb. Lone Wolf Connector.
* Smooth Trigger.
* Extended Slide Release.
* Polish all trigger parts.
* Stainless Steel Pins.
* Frog Lube (yes folks, I drank the Kool Aid too!)
After all was said and done, I could not be happier with my Glock. This is my CCW, in addition to a nice range gun.
Lane did an outstanding job on the frame, and the finished product is absolutely perfect! It fits so much better in the hand, and the texturing feels awesome. It's not abrasive, but still has plenty of "Bite". Great job, and a great guy to boot!
Frog lube looks and feels great so far. I will be heading to the range on Thursday so I'll give a shout back here when I clean the gun. The slide looks great, and I can't put fingerprints on it if I tried. It also seemed to make the frame look a little more black, too. It's not slick, but hopefully will clean up nice and easy after I'm done.

Most of these "reductions", I realize that this is not a reduction, but anyway, tend to look like crap. A lot of them look really bad. This looks like it could be factory done. I have been considering a G30, now I am considering one with this same treatment. Do you mind if I ask what it set you back and the turnaround time? Congratulations on the new gun!!! Looks functional, and good to boot!

Looks like the price is the same as when he did my frame. Here's the breakdown from his site:
* Grip reduction/texturing/return shipping and 1 mag - $135
* Trigger guard undercut - $10
* Round trigger - $30
* Mag release - $15
Turnaround time was about a month. Lane said that he is really busy with overtime during the summer, and works nights to boot. He is limiting the amount of work he takes in to make sure turnaround time is as fast as possible.

I got the from Glockmeister. HERE is the link.
I hadn't planned on getting them, but I snapped the trigger group pin when I reassembled the pistol. I was irked, but it worked out for the best.

Do you have a trigger pull gauge? Would love to know what the weight is now.

Sorry but I don't. I would be interested to see what the trigger pull is now, too. It is noticeably lighter, but I'm not sure by how much. It feels great though.

Yes, and the button is radiused, so it's not as sharp. Looks great, too!

Lane looks he did a great job on your 30SF, is the "executive texture" aggressive enough vs the "carry texture" ?

Mag Release cut out
I just saw your pics with the mag release cut out. Very NICE. MY 29 and 21 are out to Lane and asked that if he still had my frames, to do the mag cut outs.
Thanks for the pics.
